Feldmar Watch Company evolved through a
legacy of family values that stretches back
to the beginning of the 20th century. Through
100 years of determination and exceptional service, Feldmar Watch Company has
earned a respected place in the industry
while remaining firmly rooted in the history
of its past.
It began in 1913, when Hungarian immigrant
Jack Feldmar started a repair business fixing
the broken, relinquished watches of Newark, New Jersey pawnshops. He repaired
neglected timepieces for 15¢ apiece. When
Jack’s wife became ill, the family relocated
to Los Angeles where Jack established his
own shop downtown on 4th and Broadway
and continued working with pawnshop owners. Jack educated his son Barney in the
art of watchmaking and repair, and the two
formed a partnership that would become
the foundation for the present day Feldmar
Watch Company.
After the company relocated to their current store site on West Pico Boulevard in
1956, Jack retired from the watchmaking
trade, leaving the company in the capable hands of Barney and his wife, Harriet.
The Feldmar family business had staying
power, mainly due to its understanding of
what clients wanted from a watch purveyor. Specializing in stopwatches became an
asset for Feldmar with the advent of timed
sporting events. With the largest selection
of stopwatches and the expertise to repair
and maintain them, Feldmar produced the
acclaimed booklet, “Timing in the World
of Sports.”
Another shining moment in Feldmar’s 100year history arrived with the first electronic
watch, the Bulova Accutron, in the 1960s.
The Accutron’s precision meshed perfectly
with a timing company, so Bulova appointed
Feldmar as the Accutron Center for the Los
Angeles area. In due course, Feldmar became the number one Accutron Center in
the United States, building further notoriety
and strength.
In the early 70s, the Feldmar’s son-in-law, Sol
Meller, joined the business. Sol, a passionate
watch enthusiast, also knew the importance
of excellent customer service. As the driving
force behind the company’s development,
Sol built upon the existing foundation and
led the company to be named one of L.A.’s
fastest-growing businesses.
Feldmar Watch Company still embraces
the family values that got them where they
are today, while continuing to cultivate new
business possibilities. Sol’s son, Scott, has
emerged as a confident leader, seizing development opportunities and ensuring that
service remains a priority. One of Feldmar’s
more recent endeavors is “HMS” (Hours
Minutes Seconds), a luxury boutique within the Beverly Hilton, home to Hollywood’s
Golden Globe Awards. With Scott Meller at
the helm of this exciting addition, the company transferred its dedication to quality
into the realm of Hollywood luxury.

If Breguet holds a special place in our cultural heritage, it is because its founder, A.-L. Breguet (1747-1823),

The Type XXII traces its roots back almost
a century and boasts a strong foundation in
aviation and of course, innovation. In 1918, the
Breguet watch company first began producing watches for aviators and also developed
chronograph mechanisms mounted in cockpit instrument panels. In the mid-1950s, the
French Ministry of War asked Breguet to produce a reliable, accurate chronograph wristwatch, code named Type 20.
The Type 20 was one of the first wristwatches
to have a flyback function, which allows the
user to start, stop and reset the chronograph
with the push of just one button. The ease
of use and time saved in flight helped improve navigation.

The Type 20 was reintroduced into the Breguet watch collection in a civilian version fitted
with a self-winding movement and renamed
the “Type XX.” Its uncompromising looks
and strong construction have made the Type
XX popular among those seeking an original
and technical sports watch. In 2004, Breguet introduced the Type XXI, a larger, 42mm
version, with a flyback chronograph, minute totalizer at the center, and a 24-hour

Two new models joined the Pontos line this
year. Equipped with self-winding mechanisms,
they each illustrate the creativity of Maurice
Lacroix. The Pontos S Chronograph ap-
pears more dynamic than ever, imbuing time

Décentrique GMT reaffirms its place in the
world through an off-center interpretation
of time as it passes and crosses the world’s
time zones.
The Pontos S is perfect for short dives with
a modern style that combines form and function. The character of the watch is clearly
inspired by the world of sport, from the tautness of its silhouette to the determination of
its face. The dynamic strap is a perfect match
for the case. The all-steel version sports a

The 43mm stainless steel case is water-resistant to 200 meters. It features a winding

measure up to 90 meters and maximum

is based on the Manufacture-made Calibre
1315, which has already proved its worth by

Navigation officers used observation watches,
also known as deck watches, to help determine
a ship’s position at sea. The town of Glashütte,
Germany produced marine chronometers
and observation watches until well into the
1970s. Taking great pride in this tradition, last
year Glashütte Original presented a new
version of the observation watch: a limited
edition in white gold honoring the memory
of Julius Assmann and Roald Amundsen.

model with a stainless steel version, available

Julius Assmann was one of the extraordinary
watchmakers who established the industry

manufacture of these handmade wonders.
The precision and reliability of its observation
watches - in particular under extreme weather
conditions — made them indispensable to
navigation officers, pilots, and pioneering
explorers such as Roald Amundsen, who took
a number of Julius Assmann observation
watches with him on his legendary expedition
to the South Pole in 1911.
The design of the Senator Observer takes
its inspiration directly from the observation
watches made in Assmann’s Glashütte atelier.
There are two stainless steel models, one
with a lacquered silver grained dial, the other
with a lacquered gray grained dial.
The dials of both are built up slowly from
three separate layers of lacquer and present
a finely textured, grained surface, showing a
subsidiary seconds dial at 9 o’clock and the
power reserve display at 3 o’clock. Glashütte
Original’s compelling panorama date display
is featured prominently at 6 o’clock. Blued
steel hands and a milled railroad chapter ring
frame black and white Arabic numerals.
The Senator Observer features a 44mm case
fashioned of polished and satin-brushed
stainless steel and is available with either a
black Louisiana alligator leather strap or a
“vintage” brown calfskin strap, both available
with a stainless steel fold-over clasp.
At the heart of the Senator Observer is
the automatic Caliber 100-14, an exquisitely
finished self-winding movement with a 55
hour power reserve. Although traditional
observation watches used hand-wound
movements, Glashütte Original has chosen
to outfit the Senator Observer with a
contemporary automatic movement in order
to maximize comfort for the wearer. Thus,
the Ab Auf indicator on the dial represents
a true power reserve, rather than a simple
indication of running time. The exquisite
finishing of the automatic Caliber 100-14 is

by launching a “world time” chronograph
equipped with a new caliber entirely developed and produced in-house. Thanks to its
double disk, the Transocean Chronograph
Unitime simultaneously and constantly indicates the time in all 24 time zones. An innovative system based on a patented mechanism
enables the user, when changing time zones,
to adjust all the indications in one smooth
and easy move by simply turning the crown.

While Breitling’s chronographs and instruments for professionals have established
themselves since 1884 as the ultimate domain of excellence, travel watches have also
played an important role in the history of the
brand with the iconic winged “B.” In sharing

When the user changes time zones, they
need only pull out the crown and turn it forwards or backwards in 1-hour increments in
order to correct the hours, the city disk and

easily adjusted in both directions to the date
corresponding to local time. During these

continue running normally without any loss

Longines Column-Wheel Single Push-Piece
Chronograph 180th Anniversary Limited Edition is specially designed to serve as a reminder of the first chronographs produced
by Longines. It is closely based on the first
wrist chronograph, manufactured by Longines in 1913 and fitted with calibre 13.33Z. The
new model uses calibre L788, a column-wheel
chronograph movement that enables the
wearer to activate the various chronograph
functions – go, stop and reset to zero – by
simply pressing on the single push-piece integrated into the crown.
In order to celebrate 180 years of elegance
and tradition in a fitting way, Longines has
also introduced the ladies’ Agassiz 180th
Anniversary Limited Edition. The watch is
a contemporary addition to the collection
launched in 1982 as a tribute to the founder
of Longines, Auguste Agassiz. This model has
an ultra-slim rose gold case with a diameter
of 25.5mm set with 180 diamonds. This exceptional timepiece is fitted with a quartz movement, mounted on a black alligator strap and

produced using DiamonSil, Ulysse Nardin’s
revolutionary combination of diamond and
silicon, and a furthering of its pioneering
collaboration with Sigatec. Caliber UN118 demonstrates the synergies between
the technologies of engraving silicon and
Diamond Coated Silicon (DCS). It is also
the first of a new
family of movements that will house
this anchor escapement in DiamonSil,
with Ulysse Nardin’s own oscillator
and its patented hairspring.
The movement features a 60-hour power
reserve indicator, oversized small seconds
and a date display at 6 o’clock. The
timepiece boasts Ulysse Nardin’s “quick
setting”, allowing forward and backward
date adjustments. Manufacture will be
available in a limited edition of 350 pieces
in 18K rose gold, and an unlimited edition of
two-tone titanium case with gold bezel and
crown or a stainless steel/titanium case.

Bell & Ross is passionate about military history—particularly that of aviation, which made
precise timekeeping one of its key navigational tools. In 2011 Bell & Ross reached a key
stage in its history, updating the wrist watches worn during World War I by creating the
PW1 (Pocket Watch 1), and the Vintage WW1
(Wrist Watch 1). In 2012, Bell & Ross is marking
another key moment in the history of military
watchmaking by reinterpreting World War II
navigational instruments with the VINTAGE
WW2 RÉGULATEUR HERITAGE.
The large bi-directional notched bezel is
the most characteristic identifying element
inspired by the navigational instrument. For
greater comfort, the oversized crown is on
the left at 9 o’clock, rather than the more traditionally placed 3 o’clock. The large grooved
crown and wide-notched bezel ensure optimal ease of use, facilitating operation while
wearing gloves. As with the original timepieces, the VINTAGE WW2 has mobile strap fastenings that adjust to the wrist for absolute
comfort.
By creating the VINTAGE WW2 RÉGULATEUR HERITAGE (Wrist Watch 2), Bell &
Ross pays tribute to the timekeeping instruments used by bomber navigators in the
1930s and 1940s. The VINTAGE WW2 observation watch emphasizes the minutes display,
essential for aviators in calculating their position or flight speed. The modern version of
this functional and historical model possesses the ergonomics and immediate legibility of
a navigator’s watch.
The VINTAGE WW2 features a case with
an aged, gunmetal gray steel finish, giving it
the appearance of a watch that has gained
a patina over time. The sand-colored hands,
numerals and index markers, and the matte
leather strap emphasize the authentic nature
of this timepiece.
Watches of the period needed to be extremely clear for easy visibility. The VINTAGE WW2
adopts the same style with its large 49mm diameter case. To ensure perfect legibility, the

the hours, and a small independent seconds

role within the overall Chronoswiss collection. This sports line is inspired by rich, traditional elements, including a strikingly large
onion-style crown, and has been enriched
with the numerous models over the last
few years.
Only a Timemaster that included a large
date was missing up until now, much to the
chagrin of the brand’s connoisseurs. All that
changed at Baselworld 2011 when Chronoswiss introduced the Timemaster Big Date.
This long-awaited new model offers more
than just a big date, however: a power reserve indication is also prominently placed
at 6 o’clock. This enables the Timemaster Big
Date’s wearer to know when it’s time to get
out and move — an incredibly sensible function even on automatic watches.
The new Timemaster Big Date offers a multitude of functional and visual attributes: it is

In focusing the year 2012 on the theme of
Time, Hermès has chosen to enrich the
Arceau line with a new collection. The famous watch featuring asymmetrical lugs reasserts its soberly understated elegance by
appearing in new dimensions and accommodating Manufacture calibres.

Its dial bears a stamped radiating motif centered around the small seconds, highlighted
by a delicate decorative fillet. Displaying an

crown of this watch with a rose-cut diamond.
This new collection is composed of five models: one in gem-set steel, two in rose gold, and
two in gem-set rose gold with a matte blue,
havana or black alligator strap.
Founded in 1830, the Maison d’Horlogerie
Baume & Mercier has always catered to discerning men and women, offering excellence
in craftsmanship, design and elegance. This
coveted brand was one of the first to create
feminine timepieces in the Golden Twenties,

The stunning watch features a shimmering
integrated polished and satined-finish steel

The Arceau Ecuyère model is equipped with
a Manufacture movement made for Hermès
by Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier. Its name is
H1912, in reference to the date of the photo
on which Jacqueline Hermès is shown wearing a “porte-oignon”, meaning a clever system
serving to attach a pocket-watch to the wrist.
Designed by Henri d’Origny in 1978, the
Arceau watch is immediately recognizable:
the horns have disappeared on either side of
the round case, replaced by two lugs echoing
the shape and curve of a stirrup. This aesthetic principle ensures the closest possible
fit between strap and case, as if the leather
were holding the metal. Watchmaking enthusiasts and devotees of fine craftsmanship will
find in these models the essential spirit of
the House: that of an object born of creative
passion and carefully mastered production.
The plates are circular-grained and snailed,
the oscillating weight is satin-brushed and
adorned with a sprinkling of H symbols – the
iconic Hermès pattern – as are the bridges,

timepiece imbued with the heritage of the
couture house, reveals itself to be feminine,

Today, Dior Timepieces pays tribute to the
Couturier with the creation of the Dior VIII
wristwatch. Its name, consisting of eight characters, is also a nod at the lucky number of
Dior’s superstitious founder: the date of his
Couture House’s creation, the 8th of October, his first collection baptised “en huit,” the
VIIIth arrondissement of Paris and its Avenue
Montaigne and 8 Place Vendôme, showcase
of the High Jewellery and Timepiece collections. Moreover, “8” is the only Roman numeral to appear on this ultra-feminine and
classic-shaped wristwatch. This timepiece,
destined to tick away the seconds and transcend fashions, is rather like the wardrobe of

The Dior VIII’s color — a simultaneously chic
and captivating black only ceramic can

write a book about black. You can wear black
at any time. You can wear it at any age. A ‘little
black frock’ is essential to a woman’s wardrobe,” wrote Christian Dior in his Little Dictionary of Fashion published in 1954.
Dior’s love of embellishment finds the Dior
VIII adorned with diamonds and precious
stones, sometimes for the range, sometimes

watchmaking knowledge and High Jewellery,
these timepieces evoke the work of the seamstresses in the Haute Couture ateliers who
