Dr. Steve Amendum is the DCTE Faculty Scholar in Literacy and an associate
professor in the School of Education at the University of Delaware. He teaches
undergraduate and graduate courses related to literacy instruction. His research areas
include early reading intervention, literacy development and instruction for English
learners, and professional development for classroom teachers. Prior to his work at the
university level, Dr. Amendum began his educational career as a K-2 multiage teacher in
North Carolina and later served as a literacy coach.
