About GSR
Gypsy culture depicts the soul as the butterfly.
Gypsy Sound Revolution celebrates the
spirit of ‘The Gypsy’ with a sound that sets the soul free.
It’s been four decades since The Gipsy Kings burst onto the scene with their wild and ecstatic
rumba. No-
one has followed in their footsteps…until now.
Today a trinity of Gipsy Kings alumni are creating a sound evolution exploring new
music
territory while celebrating their Gipsy King’s lineage.
Gypsy Sound Revolution are taking the world by storm with a fusion of the joyful rumba and the sounds that
trace their origins to the original gypsy tribe of

THE GYPSIES…
Mario Reyes
CEDRIC LEONARDI
is the heart beat of GSR. The former
Gipsy Kings drummer formed GSR
when he moved to the USA in 2011
by enlisting the support of Gipsy
Kings alumni and family members to
bring the vision of GSR alive.
The project invites the multi-talented
pedigree of gypsies to share their
passion for music and life, spiced by
the exotic beats that fuel Ced’s
curiosity and love of rhythm.
Simultaneously, Ced has created
drumming programs for Chaka
Khan’s Foundation, keeping the
spirit of music alive in the hearts of

“most likely to succeed” by his
Gipsy Kings family clan. Mario

push the boundaries of gypsy
rumba. By incorporating the
gypsy’s Indian heritage he plans

generations.

love and humility.
THE GYPSIES of India…
THE KHANS
From the deserts of Rajasthan, our raw and pulsating sound is delivered by these descendants of Gypsy culture. Just
like their Gipsy Kings brothers from the South of France, Manjoor, Nehru, and Dilawar Khan have been born into a
musical clan, The Manganiyars. They came out of the womb making music! This Northern Indian state is the birth
place of all gypsy culture. Playing instruments as exotic as the land itself, Manjoor - who has toured extensively with
Manganiyar Seduction - plays Dholak, Nehru’s voice is as pure as the desert itself and Dilawar Khan plays the
ancestor of the castanets, the Khatal.

The Return
1500 years ago the
gypsies left Rajasthan to travel the world. Through DNA
testing, science recently confirmed this as fact. Though nomadic, the gypsies
were a wealthy musical and merchant tribe, serving kings and nobles.
The
travelers ended up settling throughout Europe, the United Kingdom,
Latin America, Brazil, Scandinavia, the Caribbean, and Cuba.
Today the
RajasthanI Indians live in poverty, and
many of their global descendants are disenfranchised by our
current political systems.
Gypsy Sound Revolution is a homecoming. The world famous Gipsy Kings turned
rumba into a huge commercial success. GSR is bringing this style back to it’s
Rajasthani roots. The result is a
modern day mix of sexy, wild, joyful music.
Return to Rajasthan is a musical caravan that starts in India and travels
globally to find the common threads of all gypsy cultures, merging the sacred and the
mundane through the music of
gsR.
The Revolution
“The
wild love ride has begun. The world is getting smaller, time is moving faster,
life is getting crazier and values are being re-defined.”
“Sufi master Hazrat Inyat Khan says our destiny can be changed by a note of music. 21st Century now
confirms what the ancients knew. That music can heal, uplift and
change the world.”
“Gypsy Sound Revolution is a melting pot of
cultures expressing
the joy of music at the highest level.”
“We exist to be a solution to people’s suffering; to preserve cultures, ancient
and modern and to create unity through the
universal language of
the soul - music.”
