All games will use a 20 minute clock. The clock will run continually. The free throw line will be moved to 11
feet for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade divisions.
The girl’s basketball will be used in all divisions except the 9th grade boys, which will use the boy’s basketball.
We will try and stay on schedule. Warm-up time may be limited to 2 minutes.
Teams are asked to wear shirts of matching color.
Good sportsmanship is expected from all players, coaches and spectators. Problems may result in disqualification
of individual players, coaches or entire teams from the tournament.
This is a NO TOLERANCE tournament. Any harassment of the officials, coaches, players, etc. will result in
ejection from the tournament and could result in forfeiture of that game.
The first possession of the game will be determined by a coin toss, conducted by the referee.
Field goals count two points and free throws count as one point. There is not a three point shot.
No stalling of any type is allowed.
Each team is allowed one time-out per game (45 seconds) while the 20 minute clock continues to run. No
timeouts in the last 2 minutes of the game.
Substitutions are allowed only on dead ball situations. The clock will continue to run, so do this quickly.
Play starts from the “X” marked on the court. No defense is allowed after a change of possession while the
offense is taking the ball back to the “X”. This includes after a rebound or made baskets. Make sure you take the
ball back to the “X” in order to re-start play after a change of possession or made basket. Play will not re-start
until the ball is at the “X”.
You must pass or dribble the ball from the “X” before you shoot. Defense has to stay behind the
designated line until the ball handler dribbles or passes on a possession. You cannot dribble once on the X
and shoot, you have to move off of the X.
Fouls: On any foul, the fouled player is awarded on free throw and the fouled player’s team keeps possession of
the ball (Don’t foul). If a player is fouled in the act of shooting and the ball goes in, that team gets the 2 points
and 1 free throw, but the possession of the ball goes to the fouling team (defense). In the last 1 minute of the
game the fouled player gets 2 free throws instead of 1 and the possession of the ball goes to the fouling team
(defense).
Tie Breaking Procedure: If a game remains tied after the time limit has expired, 3 members of each team will
shoot a bonus free throw. If both teams make the same amount on the first try, both teams will have three players
shoot each round until one team makes more free throws than the other.
Individual players can only play for one team in an age group in the tournament. This does not exclude individual
players from playing on two teams as long as the teams are in different age groups and they are playing at or
about their grade level (example, 6th grader could play on both 6th and 7th grade teams, but could not play on a 5th
grade team).
Tournament rosters may include 3 or 4 players NOT 5. There are no exceptions to this!
Each team is guaranteed a minimum of two games.
Concessions will be sold at the main gym only, no coolers please.
Admission is $3.00.
All proceeds from this tournament go to the Alexandria Summer Baseball and Softball Programs.
HAVE FUN and hope you enjoy the 25th Annual Alexandria 3 on 3 basketball tourney.
