The chess sets have arrived and Mr Yates will be running the club on Tuesday lunchtime for Year 3 Dates Wednesday 20th May Tempest photography in to take class photos. Monday 25th to Friday 29th May Wednesday lunchtime for Class 1 (Years 4,5 and 6) We look forward to seeing you there! Parents/Carers, please note that lunches will run as usual! Dog Walking As we have had some lovely weather recently, we have started to use the field and Play Park more for outdoor physical activities and for our outdoor learning. However, we obviously have people who are walking their dogs on the school premises and NOT cleaning up after their dog. When Pre-School staff completed a risk assessment for their children before taking them to the Park, they even noticed someone walking their dog there, despite the signs asking them not to. Please help our School Community by reminding everyone, whether they are parents from our school or people from the village, that there are genuine reasons why we don't want dogs walking on our playing areas. It is so unpleasant for the children who should have a wonderful, clean environment to play in. Thank you for your help Sunny weather We are all hoping that those few days of sunshine were only just the start of a glorious Summer! Here are a few reminders about protecting the children in the hot weather to come, as we love being outdoors! Make sure your child has a sun hat/cap. It really helps us if you can put the name inside it. Please put sun cream on before you send your child to school. If they need sun cream in the day, please send a named bottle of cream into school. Please help your school aged child to practise putting cream on at home so they know how to use it in school. Thank you! If we have a particularly hot day, please note that we will ensure the safety of your children, such as moving them into the shade and making sure they are well hydrated etc. Water is always available in school. If you would like to send water in for your child please make sure it is in a labelled bottle. Please note we do not allow fizzy drinks/pop in School or Pre-School. Half Term Monday 1st June Return to school Tuesday 2nd June Pre-School starts Tuesday 2nd, 16th and 30th June Class 1 visit KEVICC for their Design and Technology sessions in the afternoon - please return the slip to give permission. Thursday 2nd July This is obviously a sports focus day as we had planned our own Sports Day on this date! However KEVICC are holding their Area Sports event on 2nd July and this is a wonderful opportunity for our older children to participate in events with children from other Totnes area schools. Friday 3rd July Sports Day We will have more dates soon. Look out for future newsletters and dates on our website! Little Wyverns Our Parent and Toddler group, Little Wyverns, is going from strength to strength! It is run every Friday morning by Other news...! Wendy Mason and is proving to be highly popular. We are also pleased to say that parents are offering outdoor learning to our youngest children by running the 'Wild Bug Club' on alternate Friday mornings. Here is a message from the organisers...... We love being outdoors and our children do too, so we have set up the 'Wild Bug Club!' It's a special time for parents with preschool children to come and explore and learn from nature and from each other. We light fires, have snacks and generally have lots of fun. Come and join us! Session time: 9.15-11am gear if raining. Next sessions: 5th June 19th June Where: Preschool room at 9.15am to sign in. 3rd July See you there! Olivia (Mum of Indigo and Isaac) Bring wellies, warm clothes & wet weather 17th July Vicky (Mum of Lola, Immy and George) A huge THANK YOU to all the wonderful people who offer these opportunities to our Pre-School community! African Garden Many thanks to Parents who have helped children plant in our African Garden. The children are really enjoying this experience and learning such a lot from it. We have also had some parents who have been helping weed our borders along the balcony area - so another thank you is in order! The support and generosity we are seeing from Parents and Carers at the moment is fantastic! This newsletter is full of examples of such partnerships. I also know that PTFA members are incredibly busy behind the scenes getting our swimming pool ready for action. They are tirelessly working for the benefit of all the children. What a team we all make! If you have anything you would like to help with or feel you can offer the school, please get in contact with us. What a lot of reminders and updates we seem to have had this week! I couldn't finish without saying a huge well done to all our Year 6 children for all their hard work during this SATS week. They have been excellent role models and all have strived to do their best. We are very proud of them so...
