Addressing Challenging Behaviors
WHEN
DESCRIPTION
In this training, teachers and providers will learn
practical tools for creating a positive learning
environment. Specifically, participants will learn:








To identify evidence-based positive behavior
support strategies for the learning environment
To identify functions of behavior and motivating
factors for children with autism
How to use practical and manageable systems
for collecting and analyzing data in the classroom
To identify replacement behaviors
To apply antecedent and consequence strategies
to change behavior
Tips for what to do “in that moment”
To develop a plan to change behavior using
strategies taught in the workshop
How to work with teams to monitor behavior
change plans including fidelity of implementation
As part of the training, case studies and activities will be
provided to enhance learning. Additionally, participants
will observe effective positive behavior support strategies in action at the Experimental Education Unit (EEU).
