Please note that the following criteria will apply to the Walking Scorer and Standard Bearer volunteer
positions:






Except as stated below, all Standard Bearers and Walking Scorers must be Hazeltine members.
Anyone selected to serve as Standard Bearers and Walking Scorers must be a member in good
standing as of the date of the Ryder Cup.
Must be the Certificate Holder or Significant Other as that term is defined by Hazeltine’s
governance documents.
Must be physically able to walk and keep pace for 18 holes and carry the necessary equipment
to perform the duties of a Standard Bearer or Walking Scorer.
Must attend mandatory training for the duties of Standard Bearer and Walking Scorer. Failure
to attend training will result in disqualification of eligibility.
Ryder Cup Executive Committee members, Ryder Cup Division Chairs and Committee Chairs will
not be eligible for nomination.
In addition to the criteria above, in respect of Walking Scorers the PGA requires that all Walking Scorers
have a strong understanding of the game of golf and be familiar with the Rules of Golf. Walking Scorers
must be technically savvy and be able to carry the official score sheet and a small scoring computer. In
addition, each Walking Scorer will carry a radio and if necessary due to a computer malfunction, be
responsible for communicating with Scoring Control via the radio. Finally all Walking Scorers must be
under an 18 USGA handicap index.
A previously noted, the Executive Committee reserves the right to allocate a small number of Standard
Bearer or Walking Scorer volunteer opportunities to non-members.
