Volunteer Posting Hamilton/Burlington SPCA (HBSPCA) March 31, 2015 Position Title: Commitment: Accountability: Small Animal Care – Pet Visiting Rabbits Minimum 2 hours/week (Shifts available Monday-Sunday) Reports to Manager of Humane Education and Pet Visiting The HBSPCA is seeking a Volunteer, Small Animal Care to provide kennel care and socialization for three pet visiting rabbits at the HBSPCA. The Successful Candidate Is comfortable working directly with pet companion animals Is available for one or more 2 hour shifts a week Thrives in a team environment inclusive of volunteers, staff and experts committed to maintaining a best practice shelter environment Is passionate about animal welfare Key Responsibilities Feed the rabbits Socialize the rabbits providing touch time as well as play time in an exercise pen Clean the rabbit cages and refresh bedding Required Skills, Experience and Behaviours 18 years of age or older Works independently in a structured environment Diligent compliance with guidelines and protocols for personal and animal safety Understands basic animal behavior and recognizes stress signals in rabbits (training available).
