PRESIDENT’S LETTER
Greetings HCBOR!
I hope this message finds you busy and well.
The first quarter statistics certainly indicate that we
are in for a fantastic summer. Total volume (Q1
2015 over Q1 2014) is up 23.72% and the average
sales price has climbed to $186,826! Units sold
(same period) show an increase of 13. 7%. This is
welcome news and as the old adage proclaims, let’s
make hay while the sun shines.
Thanks to all who attended last months Lender/
Vendor Fair. We had a fantastic day of meeting
and greeting with our Allied Associates and met our
RPAC goal for the first time in years. Many thanks
to Billie Green for her innovative game of chance
that brought in over $800 at the luncheon. Don’t
miss next months meeting where we will be discussing the upcoming changes to the closing process. Beginning August 1, 2015, the lender will be
responsible for completing the closing documents.
The current Good Faith Estimate and Truth in
Lending will become the Loan Estimate and must
be provided within three days of application. The
HUD1 and Final Truth in Lending will be combined to become the Closing Disclosure Form and
must be provided to buyer three days prior to closing. For a preview of the changes, NAR has provided the following resource. This is a quality video, however the discussion that will take place at
the July meeting will be important to your business
so please calendar the meeting.

As our volume increases and our pace picks up, it is
easy to let SAFETY slip from the front of our
minds. Please join Chief Bill Hollingsed and the
Waynesville PD as they offer a FREE safety course
for our membership. The training will take place
on June 10th at 5:30 at the Haywood County
Schools Conference Center / Folkmoot bldg. in Hazelwood where we have CE classes. We are being
offered a fantastic opportunity to learn and share
thoughts and ideas that could be a LIFE SAVING
so please RSVP to [email protected] and mark your
calendars to attend.
Finally, prepare yourself to embrace the positive
change that is our new MLS. Training begins soon,
watch your email for the calendar. Our date to “go
live” is still set for the end of June. If you would
like to test drive the system, please visit: Matrix
Test Drive.
I wish you all a summer of great success and
hope you will make the time to enjoy your loved
ones and have some fun!
Yours in Partnership,
Amy Spivey

LUNCHEON MEETING
NO MEETING IN JUNE!!
June Realtor® Leader of the Month
CHRISTINE MALLETTE
If you are in the Maggie Valley area and you see
a blur whiz past you, it very well might be Christine
Mallette. Christine and husband, Tom are the owners of REALTY WORLD-Heritage in Maggie Valley. They have been married for twelve years and
are the parents of three children, Kayden, Breyson
and Treygen. Christine holds a B.A. in Criminal
Justice from California State University and a Masters in Sports Administration from University of
Tennessee. Christine began her career working in
collegiate athletics as the Athletic Department Corporate Sponsorship Manager at the University of
Southern California and the Sponsorship Coordinator for University Advancement at Western Carolina University.
Christine embarked on her journey in real estate
in 2004 with REALTY WORLD-Heritage and became an owner in 2007. She is very active within
the REALTY WORLD family serving on the Carolinas Broker Council as Vice President (2013), the
Carolinas Tech Committee (2014-current), the Carolinas Broker Council Secretary (2014) and the Carolinas 2016 Sales Rally & Awards Banquet Committee Chair.
Christine has dedicated a tremendous amount of
time serving her fellow Realtors through service on
both Haywood MLS and Regional MLS and the
Haywood County Board of Realtors. She is a twotime Haywood County MLS President (2011 &
2014) and served multiple years as a Haywood
County MLS Board member (2011-2014). Christine has been instrumental in the development of the
future of our NC Mountain Regional MLS serving
as Board member (2010-2014) and Regional President in 2012. She has served on the Tech Committee since 2010, Recruiting Committee (2012), Ad
Hoc Committee (2013) and COO Search Committee
Chair (2013-2014). Her influence will be felt and
appreciated for many years as we transition to our
new MLS format. Christine knows how to throw a
party and put that knowledge to good use serving as
the Haywood County Board of Realtors Events
Committee Chair (2009-2010).
In addition to owning a successful real estate
firm and offering her time and talent to the local
real estate industry, Christine gives back to the community-at-large in so many ways. She was selected
as The Mountaineer Class of 2010 Emerging Stars
of Our Community Recipient under 40. She has
volunteered with AYSO 572 as a Board Member
(2010-2013). She is active with the Altrusa Club of
Waynesville since 2007 and served as a Board
member (2011-2012).
Currently, Christine serves as a Board member
for the Carolina Mountain Soccer Club. She is the
President-Elect for The Fund for Haywood County
and is a Faith Formation Teacher since 2010 at
Saint Margaret’s Catholic Church. In 2014, REALTY WORLD-Heritage competed in Women of
Waynesville's Battle of the Bands. As the grand
champion, they were able to donate over $9,000 to
Haywood County Meals on Wheels. She and REALTY WORLD-Heritage are organizing the 1st
Annual Great Smoky Mountain 3v3 Soccer Tournament to be held on Aug 8, 2015 at the Maggie Valley Festival Grounds. All registration fees will be
donated to the Haywood County Schools Foundation to fund sports camps or sports programs for
qualified kids in the Haywood County School system. More information about this event can be
found at www.GreatSmokyMountain3v3.com.
California’s loss is our gain with the addition of
Christine Mallette to this community. She is proof
that hard work and determination have its rewards
and she is a great role model for her children and
other young people in our area. Christine Mallette is
making a better home for the residents of Haywood
County.
COMMUNITY PRIDE
What a great turnout there was at the HCBOR Annual Lender/Vendor Fair on Tuesday, May 12th, at
Laurel Ridge Country Club. We held our summer
food drive this year to benefit the Open Door Soup
Kitchen. Many much needed items were donated,
and they were very thankful that we thought of
them. Thanks to Gina Kinder for championing this
event for us.
In addition to holding the food drive, your Community Service Committee also had a booth again.
For each event anyone signed up for, they were able
to place their business card in the basket for a drawing to win one of two $25 Visa cards. Congratulations to winners Amanda Hill of Beverly-Hanks &
Associates and Sherri Rogers of The Mountaineer.
Thanks to them and to 19 other volunteers who
signed up to participate in events throughout the rest
of 2015, some of whom signed up for more than one
event! Way to go volunteers! We look forward to
seeing you out there!
please make sure to stop by and show your support
for such a great cause! Call Amy Spivey for details.
Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is
going to get better. It’s not.

NCMMLS Update
Things are coming along well as we
prepare for the transition to the NEW MLS
(Matrix). Training and official transition dates will be available soon. Our
trainer Amy Davis has been working away
and is very excited about the improved
speed, greater compatibility on mobile
devices and improved features.
Your leadership team is also working
on a plan to replace our aging lockboxes
and keys. Recently some new manufactures
have entered the market place and we are
currently testing these as well as negotiating with our current provider Supra.
In other news we are pleased that many of
you have mention improved service with
Showing Time. We have been working with
Showing Time Manager Eileen Harper to resolve a number of problems that occurred
about a month ago. If you have continuing problems please let us know by contacting Regional MLS or Eileen Harper directly @ 828.702.8122.
It’s looking like a good year for
sales here in Haywood and we will continue to work improving the quality of service NCMMLS provides you.
