He/she is responsible for ensuring assigned routes are completed in a timely and professional manner. They will ensure safety and efficiency in the performance of duties. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge: 1. Provisions of the Hawaii Motor Vehicle Code applicable to the operation of school buses in transportation of passengers. 2. Local district and surrounding area. 3. Basic math. 4. Interpersonal relations skills using tact, patience, and courtesy. 5. Appropriate safety precautions and procedures in transportation. Ability: 1. Operate and communicate via two-way radio. 2. Adapt to emergency situations and implement effective solutions. 3. Operate passenger vehicles. 4. Use good judgment in the application of laws, policies, and rules in situations which arise while operating agency vehicles. 5. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: • • • • High school certificate/diploma Equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills and ability to perform the essential functions of the job. Must possess a valid driver’s license with no restrictions or serious violations and submit renewal upon expiring periodically. Provide a driving abstract prior to hire and updated annually.
