HBT Brings Home The BASS Nation High School Title

Headland’s Cole Burdeshaw & Jacob Hartzog
win Alabama BASS Nation High School Trail
State Championship Title at Lake Eufaula May
22-23. The State Champions anchored their
winning weight with a second day bag of 19.60
lbs giving them a 2 day total of 31.44lbs.
The two high school seniors previously
qualified for the National Championship earlier
in the year, but this title again secured their
spot at the next level. As National Qualifiers,
Burdeshaw and Hartzog will compete in
the Costa Bassmasters High School National
Championship. They will be one of 22 teams
who will be representing Alabama on Kentucky
Lake, Paris Tennessee from July 22-25th 2015.
It was also a great day for McCord and Cherry
who jumped from place # 55 after the first
day’s weigh in to #8; giving them a top ten
finish with a two day total weight of 20.88lbs.
Fishing against 250 anglers from all across
Alabama, Headland also secured the BASS
Nation High School title of “Team of the Year”.
During the two-day tournament, the top 6
Angler Team champs pulled in the win with a
combined two day weight of 66lbs.
Headland Bass Team members are Cole
Burdeshaw, Jacob Hartzog, Zach Buchanan,
Andrew Chapman, Peyton McCord, Addison
Speigner, Aaron Cherry, Ryan Chambers, and
Garrett King, alternate. Coaches are Gina
Burdeshaw and Jeffrey McCord. Official Boat
Captains are Jeffrey McCord, Hank Herbold,
Keith Chapman, Webb Speigner, Tim Hartzog,
Joe Burdeshaw, Jason Cherry and Chris
Grandstaff. A big thank you to our families,
boat captains, and sponsors for helping us get
here. Without them we would not have made

take the 2015 Anglers of the Year title
in the East Alabama High School Bass
Trail and also took home the big fish
award at West Point Lake on April 18th.
Congrats to all our anglers for bringing
in fish today helping our team capture
2nd place in the team of the year chase.
Our anglers have fished with heart and
soul all year, brought in some great
fish, and built a lifetime of memories.
HBT - Top 20 Team in ASA
Congrats to all our anglers for
working together as a team and
finishing as a top 20 team in the state in the
Alabama Student Angler Bass Fishing Association
series. HBT finished year long competition at the
ASA State Championship at Lewis Smith Lake on
May 18th in the 18th spot. Way to go boys!!! ---And, congrats to the team of Cole Burdeshaw &
Jacob Hartzog with a total 2-day weight of 25.13 for
13th place finish!!!
“Meet The Pros Night”
Parkview Baptist Church
What a great message delivered in May
at the “Meet The Pros Night” at Parkview
Baptist Church in Eufaula. Our boys were also
recognized for all their hard work and great
achievements this year. They also were able to
meet and bend the ear of some of the greats!
-- Thanks to everyone who worked so hard
to put this event together, we know that the
message was a blessing to so many.

TBF-FLW High School State Championship & Open
Eufaula was a really tough fish on May 9th, but our anglers pulled it out at the TBF-FLW High School State Championship
& Open. Cole Burdeshaw & Jacob Hartzog finished 5th with 9.10 lbs and will be moving onto the SE Regionals on Lake
Lanier. Peyton McCord & Aaron Cherry were 7th with 8.13 and Addison Speigner & Zach Buchanan were 11th with 7.2.
Andrew Chapman & Ryan Chambers had boat trouble and were not able to weigh in. In the words of Aaron on stage
today “We had fun!” This is such a great group of kids with really bright futures ahead of them. Great attitudes = great
results. Way to go guys!
New Lake, New Experience

Our first visit to Pickwick Lake is in the record
books. And although we didn’t finish at the top,
it was still a great weekend for HBT anglers. Many
of our anglers caught their very first small mouth
bass this weekend! Congrats to the team of Andrew
Chapman and Ryan Chambers for pulling in
9.97lbs. Ryan also
had an exciting
day landing a 4.13
lb bass, his biggest
fish so far. Team
Cole Burdeshaw
and Jacob Hartzog
came up with
8.32 lbs and Team
Peyton
McCord
and Aaron Cherry
brough in 7.43 lbs.
---so we call our
first trip to a lake we have never fished a success and we
now wait for the ASA results to see if our team moves onto
the ASA State Championship on Lewis Smith Lake----great
weekend, great memories!
