Job Description: Facilities Manager The Church of the Heavenly Rest, a non-profit religious organization located at 2 East 90th Street, seeks a professional to assume the role of facilities superintendent. Overview: This is a full-time position. The normal work routine is Monday through Friday, but it will include, as needed, some weekend work during the year during busy liturgical seasons and for large rental parties. Oversee not only the ongoing maintenance, repair, cleaning, and security of the facilities, but also provide the support for all the activities occurring within the facilities. Supervise, manage, and work alongside the sextons and the security staff to ensure the efficient and safe functioning of the diverse parish activities and the ongoing cleaning and maintenance of the facilities. Provide support to the Chief Administrative Officer and the Building Committee. Job Responsibilities: Collaborate cheerfully and effectively with all staff, parishioners, and hired contractors to ensure effective and efficient operational support for all Church programs and for the ongoing cleaning, maintenance, and security of the facilities. Supervise and/or perform maintenance service or repairs in one or more skilled areas, including, but not limited to plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting and plastering, machine servicing, and electrical repairs or installations. Schedule, coordinate, and assist other trade workers in one or more areas performing duties as described above. Perform routine cleaning and preventive maintenance on equipment. Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures at all times. Provide the highest quality of service to all involved at all times. Must follow all Church and regulatory agency policies and may be required to hold a license issued by a state or municipality. Complete all work, including paperwork, in a timely manner always emphasizing quality. Participate in weekly staff meetings to identify, schedule, coordinate, work in, and report on all parish operational support activities and on all maintenance, cleaning, and security issues within the facilities. Schedule, work alongside, supervise, evaluate, and empower the sextons and security staff in their daily work performance and in their ongoing professional development. Generate reports, as needed, on the effectiveness of the department and its operations. Perform other duties consistent with one’s role, as needed and/or assigned. Skills & Abilities: Experience and skilled in performing common building maintenance, repair, and cleaning tasks; experience supervising and managing others to achieve the same; experience working with hired contractors. Strong written and verbal skills, with a cooperative personality, who functions well in a team. Experience and skill working with, managing, supporting, supervising, and reporting on diverse staff, parishioners, and contractors. Experience and skill adapting procedures, processes, tools, equipment and techniques to accomplish the requirements of the position. Ability to effectively communicate policies and procedures in a manner easily understood by fellow employees, parishioners, and outside vendors.
