premises being cleaned.
PURPOSE OF JOB
To achieve and maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness at Council
managed premises and/or facilities.
MAIN ACTIVITIES
1.
To contribute to achieving the Council’s corporate objectives and priorities.
2.
To contribute to achieving the Council’s agenda for achieving continuous
improvement in service delivery.
3.
To adhere to safe systems of work and comply with health and safety
requirements.
4.
To carry out general cleaning duties at a variety of Council managed premises
and facilities located throughout the borough as per the instructions of the
Building Cleansing Supervisor. In particular you will be required:



To ensure the facilities are effectively cleaned and cleaning schedules are
adhered to;
To operate relevant cleaning equipment including, but not limited to,
vacuum cleaners, floor polishers, etc;
To undertake periodic deep cleans of premises and equipment;




To ensure that all cleaning equipment and materials are appropriately
stored after use;
To monitor stocks of cleaning supplies and other consumables and to
request replenishments on a timely basis;
To ensure that all waste that accumulates in or around the premises is
regularly removed; and
To replenish materials in toilets, etc to maintain the necessary standard of
hygiene.
5.
To report defects/hazards observed whilst undertaking cleaning activities in a
timely manner to your line manager.
6.
To carry out regular equipment checks in accordance with departmental
procedures.
7.
To receive and respond effectively to on site customer requests regarding the
facility and to keep the Building Cleansing Supervisor promptly and fully aware
of all requests received which require follow up.
8.
To drive a Council vehicle and to carry out vehicle safety checks prior to
leaving the yard.
9.
To be responsible for the locking and unlocking of Council facilities (where
appropriate).
10.
To perform any other duties commensurate with the grade of this post that may
be required from time to time.
