The 4th of July Celebration has always been the highlight of our annual events and this year features a three day event on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. We are planning another spectacular Fireworks Show and our Parade through the heart of our community is lots of fun and again this year we are pleased to include a water zone in the second half of the Parade route. We are very excited to have the bands Mogollon and Siringo perform and we are looking forward to lots of food, arts & crafts, the beer garden and entertainment booths at the Tall Timbers Park. More information about this great weekend below... Fireworks Saturday, July 4th at dusk Our Spectacular fireworks display is the largest hand lit display in the State. We are proud of that reputation and this year will be no exception! The event takes place at Mogollon High School in Heber and the fun gets started at 3 pm with food booths and this year we are very pleased to announce that the band Mogollon will be returning to take the stage both before and after the fireworks show. You and your family will love their music! At dusk (about 9 pm) the fireworks show begins and we promise you will be amazed! Water Balloons are strictly Parade Parade Grand Marshall Saturday, July 4th This year are pleased to announce that Derik Porter will be leading our parade as Grand Marshall! Derik is the middle child of the Porter family and in July of 2003 was diagnosed with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy. He was in the hospital every month for 2 years and has endured 13 surgeries, his most recent being a spinal fusion where two steel rods were attached to his spine. Derik loves his family, school, spongebob and especially being on his bike. Tall Timbers Park Friday, Saturday & Sunday July 3-5 Carissa’s Run Saturday, July 4th 6 am What better way to start the 4th of July weekend than taking part in the 7th annual Carissa’s Run 10K & 2 mile fun run/walk. Both runs start and end at Capps Middle School. Race day registration begins at 5:30 am and the race begins at 6 am with the firing of the anvil! Stay for the pancake breakfast after the race with plenty of time to head over to the Heber-Overgaard parade. Carissa’s Run was named after a sweet young girl who brought joy to her family during her brief life. In Carissa’s memory and the memory of other such dear children, Carissa’s family and friends wanted to do something to benefit the children of our community. Proceeds from Carissa’s Run are being set aside for the purchase of much needed new playground equipment at Tall Timbers Park in HeberOvergaard. Credit card payment accepted at the Chamber of Commerce through Friday. The fun gets started on Friday from noon to 6 pm with music from Siringo, food vendors, beer garden, and more! Following the Parade on Saturday, the festivities continue from 12 noon to 6 pm. And on Sunday from 10 am until 3 pm. There are Food Booths, all kinds of Arts and Craft Booths, Products and inflatables for the kids. Be sure to stop by the Beer Garden for a wide variety of beers. This year we are pleased to again provide a shuttle service from the park to the High School. No need to worry about parking in crowded lots - shuttle bus runs 2 pm until after the fireworks. More details posted below. 10 K & 2 Mile Fun Run/Walk Heber-Overgaard, AZ Saturday July 4, 2015 LOCATION: Capps Middle School in Heber, Arizona, Reidhead Street RACE DAY REGISTRATION: 5:30am. Checks or cash only. The 10K will start at 6:00 am & the 2mile will start at 6:10 am. T-shirts are guaranteed to those that pre-register (June 21st). A limited number of t-shirts will be available for those who register after June 21st. These seats are being offered at the suggestion of folks who don’t want to bring their own chairs or blankets and also want to help with the expense of having such incredible entertainment like Mogollon. Admission to see the band is FREE but if reserved seating is of interest to you and your family tickets are available at the well as at the concert Saturday night. Reserved seating is limited so the best choices in seating will be available to those who get their tickets early. Parking We are often asked: why do we need to pay for parking? To put it simply, it’s one of the ways we pay for the fireworks show and entertainment. Our fireworks show, one of the best in the state and this year again, a concert by the very popular band “Mogollon” are free for all to enjoy. The parking fees as well as other fundraising projects are used to pay for the fireworks and entertainment. There is no “city” or “county” or tax revenue to pay for this annual event. Dozens of volunteers are involved and hundreds of hours of time and labor are donated. The objective of the Chamber is to provide a great time and fun event for locals and visitors alike while showcasing Heber-Overgaard to our friends and guests. Your contribution at the parking lots makes a big difference and for that all of us say... Thank You and Enjoy the Show! Shuttle Service & Parking Saturday, July 4th Buses will be running from Tall Timbers Park (with a stop at the Griffin Propane Lot next to Ace Hardware and at Bison Ranch) and the High School beginning at 2 PM and running back and forth all day and after the Fireworks Show and Concert. Avoid the crowded parking lots and let us do the driving! Park at Tall Timbers Park, enjoy the festivities in the park then ride the bus to the High School. After the show the buses will take you back to your car at the Park for only $5 per person. AUXILIARY VIP Parking at Tenney Hill above the High School GREAT view of the fireworks!
