Topic: Tortoise Friendly Gardening
Herbiseed has been producing specialist seeds for over 25 years. They specialise in growing
seeds of plants derived from wild populations, including weeds, wildflowers, natural herbs
and newly domesticated industrial crops. They grow nearly one thousand species of plants,
many of which are not available from any other source. Seed production staff are trained
and experienced horticulturalists. Herbiseed supplies thetortoiselady seed mix among their
many specialist products.

Topic: Your Tortoise at Home
The Tortoise Club is a non profit, voluntary group with headquarters in Norfolk UK. We offer
support, advice as well as rescue and re homing help with our friendly, dedicated and
knowledgeable team. Many of our team have over 40 years experience in tortoises rescue /
welfare. The group has been established for nearly 10 years, with over 500 members, we
actively encourage tortoise welfare through a wide variety of projects including
1.30pm Dr Bruce McLean (BSc, BVM&S, MRCVS)
Topic: Tortoise Husbandry and Tortoise Health A qualified British Veterinary Surgeon (graduated in 1992 from Edinburgh University), Dr
McLean has a lifelong interest in tortoises, including over 40 years experience in keeping
and breeding a variety of reptiles and amphibians. Following graduation, he spent a period
at the University of Utrecht in Holland, further studying the veterinary care of birds and
exotic animals. As a vetinarian, he has practiced solely and full-time with exotic animals for
over 20 years, contributing chapters to veterinary textbooks, as well as publishing several
papers on veterinary care of these animals. Professional memberships include British
Veterinary Zoological Society, Association of Reptilian and Amphibian Veterinarians,
European Association of Zoo and Wildlife Veterinarians, , as well as many more general
societies such as the Tortoise Trust, British Chelonia Group and British Herpetological of
Society.
Dr McLean has recently opened a practice in Oxfordshire, after many years of providing
exemplary care for tortoise in the Reading area..
