Under the reasonable direction of the Information Systems
Manager and the Senior Systems Engineer, carry out the
professional duties in line with the job profile and in particular
to:
Provide general support to staff and pupils, including
preparation, and routine maintenance of resources/equipment.
Support the aims and objectives of the school
Support local schools as per agreed SLAs

Headteacher, senior leadership team, teachers and support
staff, LA representatives, external agencies, Primary Schools
and parents.

Location
Although the role will be based at Hope Special School, the
ICT Technician will be required to work at other RLT
establishments when required.

Salary Scale:
Grade 4 Points 14 -19 (£16,490 - £18,634)

ICT Technician
Main duties and responsibilities
SUPPORT FOR THE CURRICULUM














Perform routine fault repairs of software and hardware
Perform network fault-finding and diagnosis as required
Install new software and peripherals as required
Install and maintain software and hardware as required
Manage and maintain adequate stock levels of consumables
Help teaching and support staff with advice regarding software and hardware as
required
Timely and accurate preparation and use of specialist equipment / resources /
materials as required by staff / curriculum etc.
Maintain accurate records as requested
Liaise with third-party support providers as appropriate
Provide support to local schools to meet agreed Service Level Agreements
Investigate and research new technologies, hardware and software and assist in
implementation
Deliver training to teaching and support staff in the use of school systems
Aid students’ learning by assisting teachers with technology projects in the
classroom, and working with small groups of students when required.
Be involved with infrastructure projects during the school holidays, at sites across
the Trust.

The successful candidate must hold a full UK driving license and be able to provide own
transport to other sites (expenses will be reimbursed). This role will involve working primarily
at Hope Special School, who we provide IT support services for, but work at other Trust

ICT Technician
Due to a member of the team moving on to new employment, we are seeking to
appoint an ICT Technician, to be based at Hope Special School.
The IT Support team plays an active role within the Rowan Learning Trust, and
supports all Trust establishments, as well as supporting local primary & special
schools under support contracts.
The Trust ICT Support team is currently based across two sites - Hawkley Hall
High School, the founding member of the Rowan Learning Trust, and Kirkby High
School. The team plays a vital role within the school community and partner
schools, and currently consists of:

Information Systems Manager (Trust) who has responsibility for
strategic leadership and the continuing development of ICT to aid teaching
and learning across all schools in the Trust.

Senior Network Manager (HHHS) who has responsibility for the
provision, development and promotion of high quality technical support to
staff and students, and has responsibility for the core networking
infrastructure across all sites.

Assistant Network Manager (KHS) – responsible for the provision of
high quality technical support, and day to day operations at Kirkby High
School.

Senior Systems Engineer (HHHS) responsible for managing SLAs with
primary/special schools, server administration, Trust-wide projects and
general support duties.

ICT Technician (HHHS) x 2 responsible for assisting in the development
and maintenance of curriculum resources, school website, and general
support duties.

ICT Technician (KHS) responsible for first line support and technical
troubleshooting at Kirkby High School

Apprentice ICT technician (HHHS), responsible for first-line support and
helpdesk monitoring at HHHS (to be appointed)
