The College of Health and Human Performance at the University of Florida will be hosting its 6th Annual Swamp
Scramble Golf Tournament on Friday, March 27, 2015 at the scenic UF Mark Bostick Golf Course. The Swamp
Scramble is a collaboration between the College of Health and Human Performance’s faculty, staff and students to
generate revenue for students in the Department of Tourism, Recreation and Sport Management (TRSM).
The College houses three departments: Tourism, Recreation and Sport Management; Health Education and Behavior;
and Applied Physiology and Kinesiology. Through its research and teaching, the College impacts almost every aspect
of the human condition. Our faculty and students are researching topics such as childhood obesity and youth
recreation programming, substance abuse in adults, adolescents and minorities, health disparities, cancer prevention
and promising therapies for stroke, cardiovascular disease and movement-related disorders such as Parkinson’s
disease. Students from our three departments graduate with the tools necessary to become successful therapists,
clinicians, scientists, athletic trainers, recreation and event managers, tourism professionals and physicians. Each
helps to contribute to a healthier world for tomorrow.

About TRSM & Swamp Scramble
Located in the College of Health and Human Performance, the Department of Tourism, Recreation and Sport
Management (TRSM) is committed to inspiring and enabling a better quality of life through innovative and compelling
research, education and outreach in tourism, recreation and sport. TRSM’s work provides the knowledge that helps
communities and organizations develop and improve sustainable tourism, recreation and sport opportunities that
benefit individuals, families and society as a whole.
Swamp Scramble was established in 2010 to generate revenue in order to enhance the TRSM experience for our
students. We attribute the success of the past three tournaments to our generous sponsors and alumni participants.
The funds raised enable the department to offer the following to its students:
Support for our student organizations to host speakers and special events geared
toward professional development;
Funds to establish a publication library for student research;
Funding for faculty to take students on class trips to enhance the student experience;
Scholarships to allow our students to travel and present their research at local,
regional and national conferences;
Grants for our undergraduate students to complete research with faculty advisors.
