Walking from Kothi to Vashisht around 45 Km. One can reach Manali from New Delhi/Chandigarh through regular/Volvo buses which operate frequently. While returning day time and overnight buses are available from Manali to New Delhi/Chandigarh. Access: New Delhi and Chandigarh are well connected by railway and flights. From New Delhi there are several overnight buses for Manali. One can also get an early morning bus from Chandigarh to reach Manali in 10 hrs. The route from new Delhi to Manali is via Chandigarh, Mandi, Bhuntar and Kullu and the distance is around 550 Km. Highest Point: Bhrigu Lake ~ 4270m/14000 ft; Kothi Peak ~ 4250m/13940ft Grade: Easy to Moderate, snow in summer Seasons: April to November Further Options: Trek to Bhrigu peak ~ 4570m/15000 ft, adjacent to the lake. About Bhrigu Lake trek: This easily accessible trek route in the upper Kullu valley and lying east of the famous Rohtang pass offers almost everything which a beginner or an experienced hiker can think of. The trail goes though virgin forests, and lush green meadows, Birds eye views of the surrounding valleys like upper Kullu, Solang and Rohtang are trekkers delight. Snow clad peaks and ranges of Dhauladhar and Pir Panjal are captivating. The lake itself derived its name from the peak called Bhrigu. Th legend is that, Maharishi Bhrigu (saint) of Saptarishi fame had meditated on bank of this secluded and pristine lake lying at ~4270m/14000ft above sea level. The shallow lake remains frozen for more than half of the year. Even in summer the approach is filled with the fun of walking on snow. Campsites provide overwhelming feeling of wonder and admiration. The nature is bountiful with her gift of wildlife. This round trek’s start and end point, the village of Vashisht (Another Rishi of Saptarishi fame extolled here ) has surprises in many folds. A Neatly carved wooden temple, hot spring, surrounding waterfalls, village home-stays, availability of world cuisines make it a compelling destination for tourists and hikers who want to be far yet close from the hustle and bustle of Manali. Access to Manali (The trek base): Manali is well connected by road from Delhi and Chandigarh. One can reach Manali by a) Taking an afternoon/evening bus from New Delhi (Volvo, Deluxe or regular) which reaches Manali in the morning. Distance is 570 Km and may take up to 15 hrs depending upon the bus service. b) Early morning bus from Chandigarh ISBT which takes around 10 hrs and the distance is around 300 Km. While returning one can take overnight bus from Manali which again reaches Delhi in 15 hrs. Normally the Volvo service ends by the evening. However the details are mentioned below: Two nights stay at Vahsisht, Manali (Day1 & Day5) on sharing basis. Dinner is NOT included. There are decent options of restaurants/hotels for veg and non veg food. Car drop to the trek starting point Kothi from Manali. The trek fee. Trekking for 4 days which will include professional Guide, Cook, Helper, Porter/Mule cost for carrying central logistics, provisions, utensils etc. Regular Indian style vegetarian food during the trek including breakfast, packed/hot lunch (depending upon the time you reach a campsite), snacks, dinner along with coffee/tea/soup. 3/4 men Tents, Kitchen & Dining tents. Sleeping mattress and Sleeping bag Any equipment required (Ropes, Carabiners, Ice Axe etc.) All the permit fees and camping charges. We would reduce the load of the trekkers by carrying the sleeping bags and other non essential things which trekkers will not require while walking and will be carried by our mules/porters. We adjust the load accordingly that a trekker has to carry around 5/6 Kg load comfortably and can enjoy the beauty of nature at its best. However if any trekker needs a porter to carry his/her personal rucksack then the same has to be informed us at least a week before starting the trek. The arrangement of the same will be done with an additional charge of Rs 1000/bag (Not weighing more than 10Kg) for the entire duration of the trek. It does not include any cost which belongs to personal in nature and not explicitly mentioned above.
