Walking from Mana village (near Badrinath) to Satopanth Tal, exploring Swargarohini glacier and back to Mana (Near Badrinath) around 50 km. One can reach to Haridwar and get back directly to New Delhi through overnight trains and buses. Access: Haridwar is well connected by train from New Delhi and Kolkata. Frequent bus services from Delhi ISBT. Highest Point: Satopanth Tal ~ 4600m/15100 ft. Grade: Moderate Seasons: Mid May/June and September/October Further Options: Explore the surrounding Swargarohini glacier area. About Satopanth Tal trek: The mythical lake trek route to Satopanth Tal encompasses the flavor of high altitude feature, walking on boulder, moraine, glacier and knife edge ridge are enthralling. Captivating peak views are hard to believe. This triangular shaped glacial lake lies above 15000 ft and believed to be the “the road to truth” ( Satya Ki Pantha) . The Panch Pandavas of epic Mahabharata took this difficult trail to try to reach the heaven. At different places on the trail, the legends still live, and the names bear the resemblance of the myth. Towering Satopanth peak looms over the lake along with the Chowkhamba, Neelkanth and Balakun. Many people believe that the Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshswar, take bathe in the lake in an auspicious day. Adventurous local people and Sadhus visit this lake in the monsoon for pilgrimage. Access to Badrinath (The trek base): Haridwar is well connected by train from Delhi and Kolkata. Frequent regular and Volvo bus service from Delhi Kashimiri Gate ISBT. Depending upon team members we can arrange a car pickup from Haridwar to Badrinath and back. The cost will be on actual basis and shared by the team members. If you want to reach and return from Badrinath by public vehicle then: a) Take early morning bus service from Haridwar to directly Badrinath or till Joshimath. Direct buses leave by 5 am. The state operated Bus terminus 9referred as Roadways) is just opposite to the railway station. Privately operated buses start just 2 minutes walking from here. In the summer during Char Dham Yatra, buses are packed. It takes 11/12 hours to reach Joshimath. Look for a shared Jeep service or book a car till Badrinath. It may take up to 14 hours. b) From Badrinath early in the morning board the direct bus for Haridwar/Rishikesh. It will take 12 hours. However the details are mentioned below: Two nights stay at Badrinath (Day1 & Day7) on sharing basis and dinner. Car drop from Badrinath to trek starting point Mana and from Mana to Badrinath back. The trek fee. Trekking for 6 days which will include professional Guide, Cook, Helper, Porter cost for carrying central logistics, provisions, utensils etc. Regular Indian style vegetarian food during the trek including breakfast, packed/hot lunch (depending upon the time you reach a campsite), snacks, dinner along with coffee/tea/soup. 3/4 men Tents, Kitchen tents. Sleeping mattress and Sleeping bag Any equipment required (Ropes, Carabiners, Ice Axe etc.) All the permit fees and camping charges. We would reduce the load of the trekkers by carrying the sleeping bags and other non essential things which trekkers will not require while walking and will be carried by our porters. We adjust the load accordingly that a trekker has to carry around 7/8 Kg load comfortably and can enjoy the beauty of nature at its best. However if any trekker needs a porter to carry his/her personal rucksack then the same has to be informed us at least a week before starting the trek. The arrangement of the same will be done with an additional charge of Rs 1500/bag (Not weighing more than 10Kg) for the entire duration of the trek.
