Regional Support Worker role description
Freelance Role:
 To promote HMD and the work of HMDT to existing and potential activity organisers
 Support the development of new and existing local HMD activities
Main responsibilities
Involve
 Provide advice over phone, email and meetings to a range of individuals and
organisations on marking HMD.
 Support existing HMD organisers in increasing the scope and quality of their
programmes for HMD 2016.
 Assist in presenting at a regional workshop along with members of the HMDT team.
 Assess opportunities to present and promote HMD in person and, where appropriate,
deliver these presentations.
 Use networks and associations to raise awareness of HMD ahead of 27 January.
Develop
 Identify and encourage new groups and organisations to participate in HMD by
conducting grassroots outreach.
 Increase the total number of recorded activities within the region.
 Establish a HMD activity within every local authority area within the region.
 Promote HMDT’s Youth Champions programme in the region.
Evaluate
 Update the HMDT team and share best practice from the region by phone, Facebook
and a Support Worker bulletin.
 Check-in weekly with both the HMDT team and organisers they are in correspondence
with.
 Capture data collection of HMD activities in region using HMDT’s database and systems.
 Participate in analysis of the project through a mid-project review and a final evaluation.
 Produce an overview report of activities in the region.
Other
 Support and promote the impact study of HMD, commissioned by HMDT and carried out
by Sheffield Hallam University.
 Attend a certain number of HMD activities in the region.
 Support HMDT’s charitable objectives and strategic plan.
 Support HMDT’s plans to promote HMD across the UK.

 Carry out the work contained within the schedule.
All objectives will be tailored according to region.
Salary: £5,250 per annum (plus reasonable expenses)
Hours: HMDT recognise that individuals have their own working patterns. Therefore while
we recommend approximately a one day per week basis for completing the services
required, it is up to the individual to determine the time they spend on this project in
consultation with HMDT.
This role works out as 42 days work to be delivered from June 2015 until March 2016.

The regional support workers report to the HMDT outreach officers.
Location:
We are currently recruiting for three regional support workers:
One based in the West Midlands (Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire,
West Midlands (county) and Worcestershire).
One based in the South East (Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, East Sussex, Hampshire, Isle
of Wight, Kent, Oxfordshire, Surrey, West Sussex).
One based in Greater London.
Schedule:
22 June 2015 – contract begins.
22-23 June 2015 – attend induction programme at the HMDT office, London (attendance at
induction is compulsory).
September / October / November 2015 – present at relevant HMD regional workshop.
W/c 2 November 2015 – participate in a mid-project review by phone or Skype.

February 2016 – submit to HMDT a final spread sheet of all HMD 2016 activities within the
region and highlight 10 outstanding activities within the region.
February 2016 – participate in final evaluation of project at the HMDT office in London
including summary overview report of activities in the region. Submit an overview report of
activities in the region.
March 2016 – keep contacts warm, inform activity organisers of new theme and approach
those activity organisers who require earlier planning.
