Monday, March 30 th marks the beginning of the fourth quarter which leaves only 47 days for students to master their grade level standards. Between end of year assessments and activities the time will surely fly by quickly. Be sure to check the next page for a list of upcoming standardized tests for intermediate students. Please mark your calendars! Field Day is coming up at the end of the month. Students in grades 3-5 will have their Field Day on Thursday, April 30th and students in grades K-2 will have their Field Day on Friday, May 1. Parents interested in volunteering for Field Day must be approved as a volunteer. Our annual Literary and Science Fair Night is a much anticipated event each year. Please mark your calendars for Wednesday, May 6th. Students in grades 3 – 5 are required to complete a Science Fair project by Monday, April 13th. If you are interested in purchasing a showboard, there are a limited number available in the main office at a discounted price of $3.00. A copy of our science fair packet was distributed to each intermediate student and a copy has been posted on our school website, hollywoodparkelementary.browardschools.com for your reference. We also ask that you make sure your child continues to wear his/her uniform to school each and every day. Uniforms help students practice responsibility and build school unity. Please help us enforce the school uniform policy by making sure your child is properly dressed before they leave home. Students should also leave toys at home. This may require that you check your child’s back pack each day. Please contact our Guidance Counselor, Ms. Dara Lewen, at 754-323-6250, if you need assistance from the Ann Murray Clothing Bank. In accordance with the district’s attendance policy, please make sure to call the main office or the attendance hotline (754-323-6252) to report your child’s absence. Be sure to state the reason for the child’s absence. Absences will be excused in accordance with Florida statutes and the District’s Attendance Policy. Remember to call in each day your child is absent. We are always looking for more participation in our School Advisory Council. Our meetings are open to all parents and are held on the 2 nd Thursday of the month. We are currently looking for a parent to represent our community of English Language Learners (ELL). If you are interested in participating, please plan on attending our next meeting, April 9th, or call Ms. Acevedo or Ms. Cardet for more information. Thank you for participating in our after school clubs survey. Based on your responses we will be able to plan clubs that will be sponsored by the YMCA throughout the next school year.
