……News from Mrs. Galinsky & Mrs. Dolin’s Desk…
We hope everyone enjoyed their Spring Break! Although we probably all wish the
break were not over, summertime is just around the corner. Monday, March 30 th marks the
beginning of the fourth quarter which leaves only 47 days for students to master their grade level
standards. Between end of year assessments and activities the time will surely fly by quickly.
Be sure to check the next page for a list of upcoming standardized tests for intermediate
students.
Please mark your calendars! Field Day is coming up at the end of the month. Students
in grades 3-5 will have their Field Day on Thursday, April 30th and students in grades K-2 will
have their Field Day on Friday, May 1. Parents interested in volunteering for Field Day must be
approved as a volunteer. If you have not already done so this year, please log onto
www.getinvolvedineducation.com to complete the online application. Applications must be
approved in advance.
The Daddy and Me Luncheon was such a huge success. To better accommodate our
mommies, we have planned 2 dates for a “Muffins for Mom” treat and story time. Grade 3- 5
moms are invited to attend on Wednesday, May 13th, from 8:30 A.M. to 9:15 A.M. Grade K-2
moms are invited to attend on Thursday, May 14th from 8:30 to 9:15 A.M. Moms are asked to
RSVP by Wednesday, May 6th. Only registered moms will be able to attend the event. If you
have more than one child, please be sure to complete an RSVP form for each child.
Our annual Literary and Science Fair Night is a much anticipated event each year.
Please mark your calendars for Wednesday, May 6th. Students in grades 3 – 5 are required to
complete a Science Fair project by Monday, April 13th. If you are interested in purchasing a
showboard, there are a limited number available in the main office at a discounted price of
$3.00. A copy of our science fair packet was distributed to each intermediate student and a
copy has been posted on our school website, hollywoodparkelementary.browardschools.com for
your reference.
We also ask that you make sure your child continues to wear his/her uniform to school
each and every day. Uniforms help students practice responsibility and build school unity.
Please help us enforce the school uniform policy by making sure your child is properly dressed
before they leave home. Students should also leave toys at home. This may require that you
check your child’s back pack each day. Please contact our Guidance Counselor, Ms. Dara
Lewen, at 754-323-6250, if you need assistance from the Ann Murray Clothing Bank.
In accordance with the district’s attendance policy, please make sure to call the main
office or the attendance hotline (754-323-6252) to report your child’s absence. Be sure to state
the reason for the child’s absence. Absences will be excused in accordance with Florida
statutes and the District’s Attendance Policy. Remember to call in each day your child is absent.
We are always looking for more participation in our School Advisory Council. Our
meetings are open to all parents and are held on the 2 nd Thursday of the month. We are
currently looking for a parent to represent our community of English Language Learners (ELL).
If you are interested in participating, please plan on attending our next meeting, April 9th, or call
Ms. Acevedo or Ms. Cardet for more information.
Thank you for participating in our after school clubs survey. Based on your responses
we will be able to plan clubs that will be sponsored by the YMCA throughout the next school
year.

Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 have been
working diligently to prepare for FSA (Florida
Standards Assessment).
Many of our
students have attended Saturday camp and
many are also putting in extra time at home to
practice as much as possible. Hollywood Park
teachers have been doing an outstanding job
helping your child prepare.

A parent link will be forthcoming with
details about important testing news and
updates. In order to give your child an
opportunity to do his/her very best, please
ensure that he/she gets a minimum of 8 hours
sleep each night prior to testing, eats a
healthy, well-balanced breakfast, maintains a
positive attitude, and arrives at school on
time. Please make certain that your child
is in attendance every day during testing.
Our Kids of Character trait is Tolerance
for the month of April. Tolerance is defined as
recognizing and respecting differences,
values, and beliefs of other people. Thank
you for your continued support in reinforcing
our monthly character traits at home.
Hollywood Park Elementary is a very busy
place as we begin the 4th and final quarter of
the school year. FSA testing for our 3rd-5th
grade students will be occurring this month and
students should be well rested and prepared
each day so they are able to put forth their best
effort and show what they know.
Our
kindergarten, first and second grade students
will continue to improve their academic skills
each and every day and are focused on
mastering the grade level standards that will
allow them to smoothly transition to the next
grade.
Our Parent Improvement Plan (PIP) for next
year is being developed, along with the SchoolParent Compact. We welcome your input and
invite you to attend our next SAC meeting,
being held on Thursday, April 9 at 2:20. In
addition, if you have received a Title 1 survey
and have not yet returned it, please take the
time to complete the survey and return it to me
no later than Friday, April 6. The information
from these surveys will assist us in planning our
PIP for next year and ensure that we meet your
needs and your children’s needs. If you have
any ideas you would like to share or questions
about curriculum, or our Title 1 program, please
give me a call at 754-323-6264.
From the desk of Ms. Amy Schwartz ESE Specialist
It is that time of year to start planning for our ESE students matriculating to middle
school. Prior to the end of this school year, we will review your child’s Individual Education
Plan (IEP) and develop a plan to meet his or her individual needs to transition to middle

me at (754) 323-6265.
