Summer Time Activities 2015-16

Dear Kids,
The Summer Vacations are around the corner! It is a good time to strengthen your strengths and work on
your weak areas so that they too become your strengths! Spend time with your grandparents and hear lots of
stories from them!
Physical activity makes you sharp and smart. Indulge in swimming, cycling, running, riding as
much as possible. That should take care of your extra bouncing energy.
HELPING Settle your room, lay the table, water the plants, buttoning and unbuttoning of your shirt, shoe
AROUND: lacing, etc. Learn to make and serve sweet lime water to your family.
DIET:
Drink lots of water and eat salads. Enjoy the different varieties of summer fruits offered by
Mother Nature.
ENGLISH 1. Request Mom to monitor 10 minutes of your reading daily with focus on correct
pronunciation.
2. Learn to recite any one of the following poems for the forthcoming Recitation
Competition during Literary Week in July… ‘The Rain’; ‘Magic’ or ‘Snail’ from the
book ‘Springboard’.
3. I
Read two Lady Bird Story Books, Level 2: Town mouse and Country mouse,
Sly Fox and Red Hen. Learn to narrate any one story (7 to 10 sentences) for the
forthcoming Story Telling Competition.
II ACTIVITY 1 - Graphic Organiser
Select any one short story. Based on this story, follow the instructions given below
and complete the graphic organizer a. Write the name of your favourite character from the story in empty sundae
scoop marked 1.
b. Write the title of the story in empty sundae scoop marked 2.
c. Write the name of the author of the story in empty sundae scoop marked 3.
d. Write 5 Verbs (Doing Words) from the story in empty sundae scoop marked 4.
e. Write 5 Nouns from the story in empty sundae scoop marked 5.
f. Write 5 Adjectives (Describing words) from the story in empty sundae scoop
marked 6.
g. Write 5 new words from the story in empty sundae scoop marked 7.
h. Write the moral/value learnt from the story in ice-cream tub marked 8.

NOTE- You can use the graphic organiser given on the next page or give it a
different shape of your choice.
III ACTIVITY 2 - Picture Dictionary
Think of at least 10 nouns which you read in the book. Follow these steps to create
your own Pictionary.
a. Write these words neatly with sketch pens in bold letters on different coloured
sheets (one fourth A4 size sheet). Draw/stick pictures related to these words on
these sheets.
b. Arrange these cards in alphabetical order and tie them neatly with a
ribbon/staple them together.

Collect information about some trees. Write their names on an A4 sheet.
Paste their leaves in such a way that they make nice shapes. (An example of shapes from
pasted leaves in given below.)
ACTIVITY 4 - Spend some time with your father. Do worksheet 3.
ACTIVITY 5 – Make a scrap book for Activity 5.
a. Paste your pictures along with your parents/family members while you spend quality time
with them. Give it a nice name.
b. Make your family tree like the one given below.

 Father’s day will be on 21.06.15. With the help of your mother make a card for your dear
father.
 Keep in touch with work covered in April and May.
 Completion of holiday homework will carry the weightage of 5% marks in the FA activity of
the relevant subject. The holiday homework is to be submitted on 13.07.2015
