VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED
The deadline for submitting the volunteer signup was yesterday, March 25, and there are still open spots to be
filled. Most shifts are scheduled for two hours in order to allow everyone to enjoy the evening. Please remember that all
families commit to working two volunteer shifts at specific fundraisers, and this is your last chance to fulfill hours for this year.
Families not completing the shifts will be billed $100 per shift. Those who have not fulfilled the commitment and have
not signed up by March 31 will be called. Even if you have completed your hours, please consider helping out at the
auction. Working together for the good of the school benefits everyone, and is a fulfilling way to model service to our kids.
Please be generous with your time and pitch in where you are able!
Help is needed in the following areas and times:

Tending Bar (all shifts)—6 needed
Serve drinks at one of three bars. Must complete server training.

VIP Check-in (4-6 PM)—1 needed
Assist VIP guests with check in, bid numbers, coat check.

Check-in (4-7 PM)—1 needed
Assist guests with check-in, bid numbers, game card purchase.

Parking (4-7 PM)—1 needed
Assist guests by shuttling in golf cart from parking lot to door.

Dining Room Host (4:45-6 PM, 6-7:15 PM)—3 needed
Escort guests to tables for dinner seating.

Serve VIP Tables (6-8 PM)—3 needed
Serve food and beverages to guests at VIP tables, clear tables.

Bus Tables (4:45-6:15 PM, 6:15-7:45 PM)—7 needed
Clear dining tables of dinnerware and beverages as guests finish.

Check-out (7:30-10:30 PM)—2 needed

Check-out (9-10:30 PM)—1 needed
Assist check-out heads with totaling purchases and collecting payments.

The St. Nicholas Knights of Columbus recently
presented Holy Cross Catholic School with a check for
$11,000, which includes proceeds from several
fundraisers, such as the annual gun raffle, pancake
breakfast, and Christmas tree sale. The money will be
used for new student Bibles, library books, and other
necessary expenses. Holy Cross extends our deepest
gratitude to the Knights for their continued generosity.

Christmas tree sale!

Congratulations to Holy Cross students for surpassing
their $900 goal for cancer research for the Pennies for

SCHOOL SISTERS OF NOTRE DAME invite moms and daughters to “Splash”
into the beginning of summer with a little bonding time on Our Lady of Good
Counsel Campus in Mankato. Summer Splash includes a blend of activities
designed to strengthen the mother-daughter connection and provide an inside
look at the Sisters’ lives.
The Summer Splash is open to girls and their moms or significant female adults.
It begins at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 26, and ends after supper on Saturday, June 27.
All meals are included.
Highlights include an overnight stay, creative and educational activities, BINGO
with the Sisters, time to enjoy a walk around our peaceful campus, and prayer in
our Good Counsel Chapel.

LIVING HISTORY SUMMER CAMP
At the Rice County Historical Society
June 15 —June 19, 2015: 8:30 – 12:00 (*)
$50 members, $60 non-members
Participants must be entering 4th through 6th grade in the fall.
MONDAY 6/15 – FUR TRADERS AND NATIVE AMERICANS
Join us in the days of the Native Americans and Fur Traders. Dressing up, using a
flint and steel, cooking some traditional food, playing games and making a pouch out
of leather or wool will be some of the things we do.
TUESDAY 6/16 – PIONEER LIFE
We will move “forward” to the time of the early settlers. We’ll dress up and do activities
they would have done including grinding wheat into flour, making butter, using a small
loom, playing pioneer games, and other activities.
WEDNESDAY 6/17 – ONE ROOM SCHOOL
Everyone has been to school, but Living History Campers will get a chance to attend
a one-room school on this day. Join us for lessons from early 1900s textbooks and
play some classroom and outdoor games.
THURSDAY 6/18 – MILLING IN RICE COUNTY
This is our field trip day. We will be on the road visiting the sites of some of the
early mills in our county. We’ll start with a restored mill in Morristown, view
Northfield’s Ames Mill and visit Dundas along the way.
* Note: This day will be extended to 3pm to accommodate the fieldtrip.
FRIDAY 6/19 – FAMILY HISTORY
Friday will be our day to make a family history booklet and then during the last part of the morning we will
share the week’s experiences with your family and friends.

How did you hear about the Living History Summer Camp? _________________________________
We are so grateful for the generosity of
our supporters, which last year allowed
us to raise $19,000 to replace outdated
computers in the student computer lab
and some classrooms. While we have
made excellent progress in upgrading
technology, our need still remains. It is
so important to our school that
students have access to educational
tools, that our teachers can utilize the
best teaching methods, and that our
school can stay competitive with the
public schools in this area. Part two of
our technology plan will address these
needs. We hope to upgrade the rest of
the staff computers, increase the
internet capability in the building, and
provide Chromebooks for the middle
school.
