Archbishop Rummel High School 2015-2016 iPad Information For the 2015-2016 school year, each student will be required to bring his own iPad to school. The iPad is the only acceptable form of technology allowed. Students may bring an iPad that they currently own. If the student does not already own an iPad, or his iPad is in need of replacement, the summer would be a great time to start pricing options. Any type of iPad is acceptable, but the school strongly discourages you from purchasing or bringing an original iPad or an iPad 2. These devices were first introduced to the market in 2010 and 2011, respectively. Since they are the oldest devices, it is very likely that Apple will not support them in the near future. Please do not confuse the iPad 2 with the iPad Air 2. The iPad Air 2 was released in October and is the newest device available. Again, students must bring any iPad device. It can be the full size iPad or the iPad mini. The device can have a cellular connection, but it is not recommended to spend the extra money for this feature. It is completely unnecessary as the entire campus is Wi-Fi accessible. If the student purchases a new device, please look into insuring the device through either Apple or a 3rd party vendor. The school has used SquareTrade in the past and has been happy with their service. The school would recommend the longest insurance period possible which is typically three years. The school will not be responsible for and will not fix any damage that the device incurs. Current students were allowed to keep their iPads at the end of the 2014-2015 school year. These iPads may be used again next school year. The school installed software will be removed during the summer months. New students will be registered on the school network and Wi-Fi during the Check-in-Day in August. 1901 Severn Avenue Metairie, LA. 70001 (504) 834-5592 Fax (504) 832-4016 www.rummelraiders.com
