Impact of 1:1 iPad…
•
Massive impact on EAL students whose native Language may be Urdu, Polish,
Swedish…improved confidence, high quality of work, positive outlook to school,
greater independence, raised aspirations
•
Exceeding target grades & faster progress for some Y10/Y12 students in lessons
that leverage potential of 1:1 and provide a lot of ‘flipped lesson’ resources to
encourage independent learners (eg, GCSE grade B Physics students achieving
grade A at A level)
•
Improved communication for all students - faster turnaround for homework and
feedback, more questions & discussions with individuals
•
Better class performance for some Y10/Y12 Science & Maths students, compared
to similar ability groups the year before (eg, 68% of set 3 Science achieving grace C+
on first mock Physics exam, compared to 38% previously, less E grades)
•
Increased engagement and challenge for many groups, such as set 4 English
using 1:1 iPad potential & digital scaffolding tools to aim for B grades on
Shakespeare controlled assessments

A level results 2014
The de Ferrers Academy - 1:1 iPad impact
There are numerous other impacts observed including:
• Reduction in spending on traditional PC infrastructure (around £50,000
less spent on laptops/classroom PCs in 2014)
• Reduction in spending on some online services, such as VLEs, online
gaming software (around £8000 in 2014)
• Reduction in spending on printing and student planners (harder to
calculate exactly, but probably £10,000 - £15,000 in 2014)
• Increase levels of student independence, confidence and organization
(especially SEN and EAL students form comments made)
