We will provide assembly and detailed line up information for your group no later than May 31,2015. If for some reason you cannot participate this year, please let us know so that we will be able to include you in next year’s invitation. Please feel free to pass this invitation on to other schools, clubs, churches or organizations who may be interested in participating. The Honolulu pride parade is made up of diverse entries. We have included a resource guide to help you put together an exciting entry.. The Legacy Foundation has united all the numerous pride events this year. The Foundation and all of our pride volunteers are proud and excited to working as a united pride festival. Our theme for this year is Ka ala hou (a new path). Parade fees are as follows: Private Organizations (Clubs/Social/Schools): $50 Commercial (Bars, For-Profits, Restaurants, etc.): $125 Political & Out of State Organizations: $75 Smaller, Not for profit organizations may qualify to be partnered with a commercial organization. It is the goal of the pride parade committee to broaden the scope of our parade and offer participation to as many LGBT organizations and individuals as possible. If you have any questions please contact Honolulu Pride 2015 Parade committee [ [email protected] ]. _____Insurance & Driver’s License – Each vehicle that enters the parade line-up area and/or participates in the parade must have liability insurance, and a valid driver’s license, copies of which must be shown to parade officials when checking in on the day of the parade. Drivers must be at least 21 years of age or older to drive any vehicle with correct class on their license. _____Drugs & Alcohol – Drugs and alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited in the entire pre-parade assembly area, as well as on the parade route. Participants, who are found to have any drugs or alcohol in their possession or found to be under the influence, will be removed and their unit will be disqualified from award contention. Please discourage your participants from consuming any alcohol or drugs prior to or during the parade. _____Throwing From Your Unit – Due to the danger of physical injury, insurance requirements and littering problems, all parade participants are forbidden to throw anything from their unit. Do not in any fashion encourage viewers to come onto the parade route. _____Performances – Performances that require that your unit stop or slow down to perform are subject to the following restrictions: (1) performances can only occur at the designated location to be provided to you in your confirmation package; and (2) performances cannot last longer than forty-five seconds. Violations of this restriction are cause for removal. _____Overcrowded Vehicles – Hawai’i LGBT Legacy Foundation and Honolulu Pride Parade Committee Chair reserves the right to remove persons from any float or vehicular unit, which is determined to be overcrowded to such an extent that the unit may break down or cause injury to participants, volunteers or spectators. _____Indemnify & Hold Harmless – All applicants are responsible for any and all acts and/or omissions on their part, or on the part of their agents, volunteers and/or employees that may result in the injury or damage to themselves their agents, employees, or to third parties. Applicant specifically agrees to indemnify and to hold Hawai’i LGBT Legacy Foundation and its agents, servants and employees free and harmless and to defend it from any and all claims arising out of any such acts or omissions. _____Theme –Hawai’i LGBT Legacy Foundation requests that all participating units incorporate this year’s vision “Ke ala hou.” (A new Path) into their parade entry. As a major parade with television coverage, all units are reminded of the responsibility that goes along with this presentation. All entries should reflect the theme and/or purpose of the parade. _____Nudity & Obscenity -- nudity & obscenity will not be permitted as defined by Hawai`i State Statue §707-734. Any unit, or the participants thereon, not in compliance will be removed from the parade route, be subject to intervention by law enforcement officials and/or forfeit their chances to participate in future parades. _____Signs & Banners – In order to better facilitate parade announcements and TV coverage, a sign or banner providing the name of the organization/business must precede each entry participating in the parade or the entry should have the name prominently displayed on their vehicle. The parade position number presented during check in must be attached to your banner or vehicle window or carried by your designated parade liaison, whichever is most visible to announcers and video cameras. _____Marching Together – Groups desiring to march with other groups must make this known on this application when submitted. All requests for such arrangements will be met to the best of our ability but are not guaranteed. No unit is allowed to participate alone or as part of another unit without pre-parade registration with Hawai’i LGBT Legacy Foundation. Any unit “crashing” the parade will be removed immediately. _____Prepare to step off – All units must be ready to move on cue into the parade or the next unit will proceed. The delayed unit will proceed only at the next convenient time as determined by Hawai’i LGBT Legacy Foundation, or a Pride Parade committee chair. _____Vehicle Breakdown – Towing charges for any unit that breaks down will be at the applicant’s expense. _____Flow of Parade – All entries/entrants are required to maintain a continuous forward motion during the parade. No stopping unless directed by Honolulu Pride Parade volunteer staff or at designated performance areas. Parade monitors will assist in maintaining a consistent flow of traffic for the duration of the parade. No Gaps between parade contingents of more than 20 feet. _____Removal of Participants – Hawai’i LGBT Legacy Foundation and Honolulu Pride Parade committee Chair reserves the right to remove any persons or unit from the pre-parade assembly area or the parade that, in Hawai’i LGBT Legacy Foundation opinion, is offensive, a hindrance to the progress of the parade, places other participants or spectators in physical danger or violates any regulations in this application. _____Hawai’i LGBT Legacy Foundation Rights– Hawai’i LGBT Legacy Foundation presents the Pride Parade for the public as an educational & entertainment event, and reserves all rights as producers. Any reproduction, broadcast, or commercial use of any portion of this event, in whole or in part, in any form is strictly prohibited _____ Animal Units – All animal units must provide cleanup for all waste created by animals. Waste cannot be left on streets. Day of instructions Assembly begins at 7:30 AM, Saturday, June 6, 2015. We would like you to arrive by staging area (Magic Island Parking Lot). The parade steps off at 10 AM. Please make sure your unit is assembled and staged in the proper position well before 9:30 AM. There will be volunteers monitoring the staging area, ready to assist you. They will also direct parade participants as the event begins. Bands and large marching groups will be directed to their proper starting position by parade personnel. Please be ready to march before 10 AM. Vehicles used to drop off/pick up parade participants can proceed directly to the Waikiki Shell parking lot #2 which will be coned off for the exclusive use of the parade participants. Parade volunteers will direct parade entries to line up at approximately 9:30 AM. Entries will line up along the curb of Ala Moana Park according to their position number in the parade. We are expecting about 60 units in this year’s parade. The parade will proceed Diamond Head out of Ala Moana, down Kalakaua to Kapahulu. There should be no music, noise or other disturbances past Kapahulu Ave. Vehicles and floats will proceed directly to the Kapiolani Parking lot #2. This lot is the first parking area on the right-hand side off Monserrat and is located Ewa of the Kapiolani Park bandstand. Lot #2 is the Diamond Head lot nearest the bandstand. Marching units will proceed down Kalakaua and disband prior to the 1st median opening. A parade official will direct you to the mauka (mountain) half of Kalakaua Ave and towards the Kapiolani Park parking lot #2. The Waikiki Shell parking lot #2 directly behind the bandstand is reserved for parade participants and other parade vehicles. You may park a vehicle in the lot during the entire parade period beginning at 10:30am and ending at 3:00 pm. Finally, there is no drinking along the parade route and no throwing of anything to the streets towards the parade observers. These are City & County rules. If you want to distribute things, you may walk up and hand items to the observers. We’re looking forward to having a great time and seeing everyone on Pride Day.
