_____Drugs & Alcohol – Drugs and alcoholic beverages are strictly
prohibited in the entire pre-parade assembly area, as well as on the

alcohol in their possession or found to be under the influence, will be
removed and their unit will be disqualified from award contention.
Please discourage your participants from consuming any alcohol or
drugs prior to or during the parade.
_____Throwing From Your Unit – Due to the danger of physical
injury, insurance requirements and littering problems, all parade
participants are forbidden to throw anything from their unit. Do not in
any fashion encourage viewers to come onto the parade route.
_____Performances – Performances that require that your unit stop
or slow down to perform are subject to the following restrictions: (1)
performances can only occur at the designated location to be
provided to you in your confirmation package; and (2) performances
cannot last longer than forty-five seconds. Violations of this
restriction are cause for removal.
_____Overcrowded Vehicles – Hawai’i LGBT Legacy Foundation

for any and all acts and/or omissions on their part, or on the part of
their agents, volunteers and/or employees that may result in the injury
or damage to themselves their agents, employees, or to third parties.
Applicant specifically agrees to indemnify and to hold Hawai’i
LGBT Legacy Foundation and its agents, servants and employees
free and harmless and to defend it from any and all claims arising out
of any such acts or omissions.
_____Theme –Hawai’i LGBT Legacy Foundation requests that all
participating units incorporate this year’s vision “Ke ala hou.” (A

coverage, all units are reminded of the responsibility that goes along
with this presentation. All entries should reflect the theme and/or
purpose of the parade.

_____Signs & Banners – In order to better facilitate parade

presented during check in must be attached to your banner or vehicle
window or carried by your designated parade liaison, whichever is
most visible to announcers and video cameras.
_____Marching Together – Groups desiring to march with other
groups must make this known on this application when submitted.
All requests for such arrangements will be met to the best of our
ability but are not guaranteed. No unit is allowed to participate alone
or as part of another unit without pre-parade registration with Hawai’i
LGBT Legacy Foundation. Any unit “crashing” the parade will be
removed immediately.

Day of instructions
Assembly begins at 7:30 AM, Saturday, June 6, 2015. We would like you to arrive by staging
area (Magic Island Parking Lot). The parade steps off at 10 AM. Please make sure your unit is
assembled and staged in the proper position well before 9:30 AM.
There will be volunteers monitoring the staging area, ready to assist you. They will also
direct parade participants as the event begins. Bands and large marching groups will be
directed to their proper starting position by parade personnel. Please be ready to march
before 10 AM. Vehicles used to drop off/pick up parade participants can proceed directly to
the Waikiki Shell parking lot #2 which will be coned off for the exclusive use of the parade
participants.
Parade volunteers will direct parade entries to line up at approximately 9:30 AM. Entries
will line up along the curb of Ala Moana Park according to their position number in the parade.
We are expecting about 60 units in this year’s parade.
The parade will proceed Diamond Head out of Ala Moana, down Kalakaua to Kapahulu. There
should be no music, noise or other disturbances past Kapahulu Ave.
Vehicles and floats will proceed directly to the Kapiolani Parking lot #2. This lot is the first
parking area on the right-hand side off Monserrat and is located Ewa of the Kapiolani Park
bandstand. Lot #2 is the Diamond Head lot nearest the bandstand.
Marching units will proceed down Kalakaua and disband prior to the 1st median opening. A
parade official will direct you to the mauka (mountain) half of Kalakaua Ave and towards the
Kapiolani Park parking lot #2.
The Waikiki Shell parking lot #2 directly behind the bandstand is reserved for parade
participants and other parade vehicles. You may park a vehicle in the lot during the entire
parade period beginning at 10:30am and ending at 3:00 pm.
Finally, there is no drinking along the parade route and no throwing of anything to the
streets towards the parade observers. These are City & County rules. If you want to distribute
things, you may walk up and hand items to the observers.
We’re looking forward to having a great time and seeing everyone on Pride Day.
