Application for Early Career Investigator Mentored Research Award Goal: This program aims to support the development of early career investigators to enter the field of maternal/child HIV research and advance the mission of the International Maternal Pediatric Adolescent AIDS Clinical Trials (IMPAACT) Network (http://impaactnetwork.org/aboutus/mission.htm). In coordination with a mentor, early career investigators are invited to propose a project that takes advantage of data and/or samples generated by the IMPAACT network. Eligibility: An early career investigator is someone who is within 10 years of completion of training (from terminal degree or residency training) and is currently an Instructor/Lecturer, Assistant Professor or equivalent at their institution. For this award, IMPAACT aims to fund early career clinician-investigators who engage in participant-oriented research. Funding: There will be a total dollar amount of $100,000 for each award over a 24 month funding period (~$50,000 per year). Funding will cover FTE support for the early career investigator and travel to IMPAACT annual meetings (in Washington, DC area). Funding for equipment will not be allowed. It is expected that the investigator and/or mentor will seek additional funding to cover other research costs, if required. For the funded Early Career Investigator projects, the IMPAACT Statistical and Data Management Center will provide limited data management support and will assign a statistician to provide statistical input and perform data analyses, as needed. This program is not intended for the development of new clinical trials, which should instead occur through standard IMPAACT procedures. Submissions that are aligned with the objectives of the network as outlined by the IMPAACT Scientific Committees at the following web link will be given high priority: http://impaactnetwork.org/research-areas/index.htm. Proposals should include use of existing data and/or stored samples from IMPAACT, PACTG clinical trials or affiliated studies. Use of the IMPAACT web tool for identification of available specimens is encouraged: http://demo.dnsalias.org/ActgImpaactRepositorySite/. Inquiries: Questions may be submitted through the IMPAACT Operations Center at [email protected]. Key Dates: Proposal Submission Due Date: May 15, 2015 Anticipated Funding Start Date: July 1, 2015 Submission of Proposals: Proposals must be submitted through the IMPAACT Operations Center at [email protected] by 5:00 PM ET on the due date.
