Dear Supporters of The Hornsby & Ku-Ring-Gai Women’s Shelter,
We are finally opened and all beds are fully occupied. After a period of
planning the HKWS Board appointed a manger (Inayet Erol) back in Dec2014.
During the month of December,14 & January,15 staff interviews were

during the preliminary period leading up the first lady entering the shelter on
the week commencing 16th Febuary,15. The Shelter in now fully operational

How Can I Help Raise Funds for the Shelter ?
Over the past 12 months many local people have contributed their time and money to the establishment of the
Hornsby Ku-Ring-Gai Women’s Shelter. In fact our aim for 2015 is to raise throughout our local region a total of
$250,000. Some of this money will be raised through lodgement of grants, through the support of local businesses
and organisations in running special fund raising activities and finally other innovative fund raising programs.
Here is a few suggestions that our Find Raising Committee are in the process of organising. (more details to be
released in the near future)

The DELUMINATORS “YULE BALL ” on 6th December 2014
What a magic night. Almost 200 guests, mostly young people
attended this unique event based around the theme of Harry
Potter and the Hogwarts School. Organised by 3 remarkable
local young people (all siblings) – Sean, Zoe & Sasha Landis at
the Ku-Ring-Gai Town Hall. The venue had a remarkable
resemblance to the Hogwart’s School. Over $12,000 was
raised on the night and we pay tribute to Sean, Zoe & Sacha
for their superb organisation skills in supporting women
escaping domestic violence.
