CHAPTER-6 ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING PROGRAMME

CHAPTER-6
ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING PROGRAMME
6.0
GENERAL
It is increasingly being recognized that an Environment
Management Plan must have a monitoring programme without which the
purpose of having the EMP would not be fulfilled to the expected extent.
6.1
THE PROGRAMME
From the monitoring point of view, the important parameters are
water quality, soils, land use, afforestation, etc. An attempt is made to
establish early warning of indicators of stress on the environment.
Suggested monitoring parameters and programs found suitable for
construction phase are summarized in Table-6.1 and those of operation
phase in Table-6.2, respectively.
Total cost for the Environment Monitoring Programme is estimated
at Rs 1.15 millions.
