UNCG MOVE-IN FALL 2015
DRIVING DIRECTIONS
Campus is accessible via Aycock Street, Market Street, Oakland Avenue, Tate Street, Spring
Garden Street, and Walker Avenue.
From the North and East (Burlington / Raleigh/Durham / Richmond, Virginia):
I-40 West to Exit 218-B turning right on Freeman Mill Road. At the first traffic light, turn left on
Coliseum Blvd and follow for approximately 1.5 miles. At the third traffic light, turn right on
Spring Garden Street and continue to campus.
From the South (Salisbury / Charlotte / Atlanta, Georgia):
I-85 North take Exit 120-A to follow Business 85 to Greensboro. Continue 2.2 miles and take
Exit 35-B to Hwy 220 North / I-40. Turn left on Coliseum Blvd and follow for approximately 1.5
miles. At the third traffic light, turn right on Spring Garden Street and continue to campus.
From the West (Winston-Salem / Asheville / Knoxville, Tennessee):
I-40 East toward Greensboro. Bear right at exit 212-A to continue on I-40. Take the Wendover
Ave East Exit 214-B. Turn right on Wendover and continue 1.9 miles to Spring Garden Street
exit ramp on right. At end of exit ramp, turn left on Spring Garden Street (eastbound) and
continue 2.5 mile to campus.
From the North on Highway 220 (Madison / Stoneville / Roanoke, Virginia):
US 220 South becomes Battleground Avenue. Stay in right lane. When Battleground splits
near Cornwallis, stay in right lane and continue straight. After the split, right lane becomes
Westover Terrace. Cross Benjamin Parkway and Westover Terrace becomes Aycock Street
(southbound). Campus is ahead on the left.
From the South on Highway 220 (Asheboro / Rockingham):
Turn left on Coliseum Blvd and follow for approximately 1.5 miles. At the third traffic light, turn
right on Spring Garden Street and continue to campus.
From the North on Highway 29 (Reidsville / Danville, Virginia):
Take US 29 South toward Greensboro. Take the Wendover Avenue West exit and merge into
the center lane; the right lane ends ahead. Continue approximately 2.6 miles, then turn right
on Westover Terrace which becomes Aycock Street (southbound). Campus is ahead on left.
From the South on Highway 421 (Sanford / Fayetteville):
US 421 to Business 40 West to Exit 218-B turning right on Freeman Mill Road. At the first
traffic light, turn left on Coliseum Blvd and follow for approximately 1.5 miles. At the third
traffic light, turn right on Spring Garden Street and continue to campus.
From the Piedmont Triad International Airport:
Take the Airport Parkway exit toward Greensboro and follow signs for Bryan Boulevard.
Continue 6.9 miles and Bryan Boulevard becomes Benjamin Parkway. Continue 1.7 miles
and turn right on Aycock Street (southbound). Campus is ahead on the left.
Instructions to unload near specific residence halls are attached.

UNLOADING
Parking near residence halls is limited so there is a 10 minute limit for unloading.
Please unload as quickly as possible, then drive to a long term parking lot to make room for
other students to unload.
Helpful hint: bring 2 people with you so one person can stay with your belongings and another
person can move your vehicle while you check-in.
For optimum convenience and safety, please move-in on the assigned day for your
residence hall and follow the routes listed below to reach your designated unloading area.

Bailey, Coit, Hinshaw, and Jamison - The Quad
From Aycock Street (northbound only), turn right on Market Street, turn right on Gray Drive,
then turn right on West Drive to unload in front of your hall.
Cotten, Gray and Shaw - The Quad
From Aycock Street, enter campus at Walker Avenue and drive toward the library tower.
When you reach the circle, turn left onto the Gray Drive service road and look for HRL staff.
Cone, Grogan and Reynolds - high rises
From Aycock Street (northbound only), turn right on Market Street, then turn right on McIver
Street at the traffic light near the School of Music. Enter the McIver Parking Deck to unload.
Guilford, Mary Foust, North Spencer, and South Spencer
From Aycock Street (northbound only), turn right on Market Street, then turn right on Gray
Drive to enter campus. Follow Gray Drive as it curves through campus, then turn right on
College Avenue to unload in front of your residence hall.
Jefferson Suites and Tower Village
Enter parking lot #1 near the UNCG water tower from Aycock Street between Spring Garden
Street and Oakland Ave, or from Oakland Ave between Aycock Street and Kenilworth Street.
Moore-Strong, Phillips-Hawkins, Ragsdale-Mendenhall, and Weil-Winfield
From Aycock Street (northbound only), turn right on Market Street, then turn right on Gray
Drive to enter campus. Unload in front of your residence hall.
Spartan Village (Haywood, Lee, Union) and Lofts on Lee
From Lee Street, turn onto Highland Avenue (one way southbound during move-in) and look
for staff to direct you to unload near your residence hall.
Spring Garden Apartments
From Aycock Street, enter campus at Walker Avenue, then turn right to enter parking lot #9
near the baseball stadium. Proceed through lot 9 to enter the Spring Garden Apartments
parking garage to unload. Vehicles with “SGB” permits may stay in the deck after unloading.
Vehicles without “SGB” permits must be moved to park elsewhere. Oversized vehicles unable
to fit in the deck may park in lot 9 to unload. Please do not block the traffic circle fire lane.
CAUTION: Unattended vehicles parked in unloading areas will be ticketed and towed!

PARKING
After unloading, please drive to one of the following complimentary parking areas:

Park & Ride lot at 1720 West Lee Street across from the Coliseum.

Lot #7 is accessible from Tate Street or Highland Avenue
between Spring Garden Street and Oakland Avenue.

Lot #8 is accessible from Kenilworth Street and Oakland Avenue,
near the Oakland Avenue Parking Deck.

Lot #9 is accessible from Walker Avenue across from the
Student Recreation Center and near the baseball stadium.
Overflow parking in the Oakland Avenue Parking Deck is $2 the first hour, $1 each
additional hour, up to $7 per day per entry max. Oakland deck is visible from Spring Garden
Street behind Yum Yum Ice Cream, accessible from Oakland Avenue or Kenilworth Street.
CAUTION: Please do not park in the Walker Avenue Parking Deck during move-in because
parking availability in that location is extremely limited. Also, please be mindful that vehicles
parked in fire lanes or other areas not designated for parking will be ticketed and towed.
SHUTTLES
White and blue Park & Ride buses and yellow Spartan Chariot buses operate on a
continuous loop around campus during move-in with stops every 10-15 minutes
Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 7am to 7pm.
Stop #1 is at the Park & Ride lot, 1720 West Lee Street across from the Coliseum.
Stop #2 is in lot 1 near Jefferson Suites, Tower Village and the UNCG water tower.
Stop #3 is toward the middle of lot 8 near Financial Aid.
Stop #4 is toward the south end of lot 9 near the Spring Garden Apartments.
Stop #5 is toward the middle of lot 9 near the baseball stadium entrance.
Stop# 6 is on Gray Drive near Moore-Strong and Phillips-Hawkins.
Stop #7 is on Gray Drive at West Drive near Weil-Winfield and Ragsdale-Mendenhall.
Stop #8 is on Gray Drive near the Quad and dining hall.
Stop #9 is on North Drive at College Ave across from the high rise halls.
Stop #10 is at Carr Street and McIver Street near the McIver Street Parking Deck.
Stop #11 is toward the middle of lot 7 bordered by Tate Street and Oakland Avenue.
Stop #12 is at Spartan Village on Highland Avenue near the water station.
In addition to the move-in shuttles, Spartan Chariot buses operate an evening safety
shuttle beginning at 5:30pm. For details about the Spartan Chariot program, please visit
