PROPHETIC PRAYER THE POWER OF PRAYER May 3, 2015 Dr. Ché Ahn TEXT: John 15:7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. 8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. INTRO: • Last week, I made the comment that there are different types of prayers. One of the prayers I mentioned was making decrees. Most of Jesus’ prayers were decrees. Then we see Elijah praying seven times in persistent prayer, even though God had told him that rain was coming. • What God is after is intimacy with us. He wants us to be so close that not only will He tell us what to pray but how we are to pray the prayer. This is what I mean by prophetic prayer. I.

CHÉ AHN THE POWER OF PRAYER 2 A. 1 John 5:14 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him. 1. THE PRAYER OF JABEZ 4. 1 Chron. 4:9 Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in pain.” 10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, “Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” So God granted him what he requested. 5. JOHN 15:7-‐8 A. John 15:7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. 8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. 1. In John 15, it seems that as we are intimate with Him, we can ask whatever we desire. 2. The key word is “my words.” That word in the Greek is rhema: the living, active word that the writer of Hebrews talks about. 3. The revelatory word. His spoken word. 4. The word “desire” confirms this. In the Latin, it means “of the father” (de – “of,” sire – “father”). 5. So, it is not just any prayer but the prayers that God wants you to pray. B. ILLUSTRATIONS 1. My story of meeting Billy Graham. 2. I had a strong desire. I prayed, “God, if You will…” 3. He does exceedingly, abundantly beyond all that we can ask or imagine! www.hrockchurch.com PROPHETIC PRAYER– DR. CHÉ AHN THE POWER OF PRAYER CONCLUSION www.hrockchurch.com 3
