The 8th Chinese Bridge – Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign
Secondary School Students
2015 Competition

On behalf of the Chinese Education Consulate, PRC, Sydney, CLTA of NSW inc. together
with Sydney HSK Centre, are organising a competition - Chinese Bridge for second language
learners of Chinese at secondary level.
The aim is to encourage students learning Chinese as a second language at NSW secondary
schools.
Description
(A) Competition Categories
For 2015, the criteria for entry for students studying Chinese in secondary schools will be as
follow:
l turning to the age of 15 before 1 July 2015
l Australian nationality
l born in any country outside China
l brought up in Australia
l Chinese is not their mother language
l Permission granted from parents/guardians and day school Principal to have students to
go to China and participate in the 8th International Chinese Bridge for secondary students
in October 2015 (dates to be confirmed).
(B) Contents
l Each candidate is to have a brief introduction of himself/herself.
l Each candidate is to deliver a speech in Putonghua(Mandarin) on a topic related to
Chinese language or culture studies;
l Each candidate is to give a Chinese cultural performance (中国文化技能).
(C) Timing and venue
This competition will be held at the Lend Lease Darling Quarter Theatre
1-25 Harbour Street, Sydney NSW 2000 at 13:30 on 30 May 2015
(D) Judging Criteria
To be notified at a later stage.
(E) Prizes
l 3 winners will be selected at the competition. 1 or 2 of these winners will form part of
the team to represent NSW and Melbourne to participate in the 8th Chinese Bridge for
Foreign Secondary School Students in China in October 2015.( dates to be confirmed)
l All participants will receive a certificate and a prize.
(F) Entry cost
Free for 2014 CLTA of NSW inc.’s members and $5 per entry for non-members.
