Liturgy
“NOVENA” – WHAT IS IT?
A “novena" (from novem, meaning "nine") is a public or
private devotion of the faithful, lasting nine days. There are
many forms of novenas. The purpose is to enter into a spirit of
constant prayer in asking God for something. Through a
novena, we can be formed more deeply in this spirit of
persevering in prayer, bringing our petitions before God in a
more intentional manner.
Beginning on Friday, May 22nd, all Holy Trinity parishioners
and staff are invited to pray the following Novena to the Holy
Trinity on each of the nine days leading up to our parish feast
day—the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity on Sunday, May
31st—asking God’s continuing blessings upon our parish.
PARISH NOVENA TO THE HOLY TRINITY
May 22 – 30, 2015
God Eternal Father, bless our parish
through the love that has made us children of adoption
and partakers of your Divinity.
Grant that we may always revere and honor you
as our great God,
and love you with our whole heart as the best of Fathers.
Eternal Father, grant this petition for Holy Trinity Parish:
(name a specific petition)
God Eternal Son, incarnate Word of the Father,
bless our parish through the love by which you chose death
in order to bring us life.
Grant that we may always love you as our Divine Savior,
Son of God, and our human Brother.
Eternal Son, grant this petition for Holy Trinity Parish:
(name a specific petition)
God Eternal Spirit, bless our parish
through the love with which you proceed from,
and are as one with, the Father and the Son.
Grant that we may always allow you to lead us
toward unity with others as you, Holy Spirit,
are One with the Son and the Father.
Eternal Spirit, grant this petition for Holy Trinity Parish:
(name a specific petition)
Eternal and Most Holy Trinity,
you have made us after your own image and likeness.
Grant that all the thoughts of our minds,
all the words of our mouths, all the affections of our hearts,
and all our actions may always be conformed to your will.
Your power is beyond all words to describe.
Your glory is measureless. Your mercy is without limits.
Your love for humanity is beyond all telling.
Look upon us, and in your kindness,
grant to us the riches of your compassion.
Help us to live more fully the life we profess,
so that we may one day come to the glory of your kingdom.
Amen.
