Staff Vacancy Position: Strategic Sourcing Manager EEO No. BO 28-14 Responsibilities: The University of Louisiana at Lafayette invites nominations and applications for the position of Strategic Sourcing Manager. Reporting to the Assistant Director for Contracts and Strategic Sourcing, the Manager is responsible for executing the University’s defined sourcing strategy in the acquisition of goods and services. The primary responsibility of the Strategic Sourcing Manager is to work with the Assistant Director for Contracts and Strategic Sourcing in executing the sourcing strategies and methodology as well as fulfill purchase requests submitted by the wider University. This position will require demonstrated abilities in group leadership and project facilitation and will have high levels of strategic sourcing skills including complex RFP’s, reverse auction processes, bids and most importantly the ability to plan and conduct negotiations. This position will also need to have skills and understanding of contracts and will be responsible for working with the Assistant Director for Contracts and Strategic Sourcing to draft agreements/contracts on behalf of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Essential Functions: Adopt University-wide strategic approach for the implementation of standards that represent best sourcing and procurement methods, while conforming to University policies. Develop and maintain a strategic sourcing roadmap of potential opportunities, based on spend analysis and input from campus customers and University leadership. Develop strategies and action plans for new or improved supplier agreements as well as internal demand management and purchasing behavior changes. Collaborate with campus customers and other key stakeholders. Prepare for and lead supplier solicitation and negotiation efforts. Analyze supplier proposals and recommend appropriate next steps in the iterative negotiation process. Work with the Office of Operational Review to support contract compliance and supplier performance management. Review strategic sourcing methodology with the procurement team and other appropriate University stakeholders to ensure a basic understanding of the strategic sourcing objectives and approach. Maintain open channels of communication with campus customers and other stakeholders to understand future purchasing needs; issues are quickly resolved, and opportunities are identified and acted upon. It serves as a centralized resource for faculty and staff to ensure that goods and services are procured at the maximum value, in compliance with University and State policies and procedures in accordance with best practices.
