PTCM Install manual - Hydrogen Garage LLC

Performance Throttle Control Module Installation Instructions The Performance Throttle Control Module (PTCM) is a computer, which monitors excessive throttle transitions, throttle by wire lag, and throttle response. At the same time it maximizes the fuel efficiency while allowing for lower octane fuel to be used in most applications. The plug and play connectors make it an easy installation. The module simply plugs inline with the factory engine wiring harness using male /female connectors. The Throttle Control Module can be installed on most any fuel injected engines and is not reprogramming or violating the factory preset calibration files. The module uses automatic self-‐learning technology, which will also adapt to load and altitude variations. The module also has a power enrichment mode, which can address selected RPM ranges. The throttle control module reduces fuel and emissions at closed throttle idle and at steady cruise load. The module is linked to the factory throttle position sensor, crank position sensor and coil ignition / ground source. BEST OF ALL : NO dyno tuning sessions required. NO overwriting laptop computer reconfiguration programming. NO changes to the factory’s preset calibration files. NO manual end user adjustments required. INSTALL : Please read all the provide installation instructions before attempting to install the Performance Throttle Control Module and harness assembly. Step 1 Disconnect the Negative Battery Cable Disconnect the negative battery and remove the plastic upper intake cover. Mount the module with the two supplied tie straps to an area at the engine fuse panel/relay center, allowing the LED hole on the front cover of the module to be visible when the flashing LED is operational when the vehicle is operating. Also when mounting the module, the module should be positioned to allow the harness to exit towards the bottom of the module. Step 2 TPS Sensor Connections Disconnect the throttle body’s TPS wire connector, and install the modules throttle body’s TPS wire connectors in between the two factories connectors in series. Step 3 Ignition Coil Connections Disconnect the right front ignition coil wire connector, and install the modules ignition coil wire connectors in between the two factories connectors in series. Step 4 Crank Sensor Connections Disconnect the crank sensor wire connector, and install the modules crank sensor wire connectors in between the two factories connectors in series. Special Note: The harness from the module should be installed along the right side of the intake manifold running towards the rear of the engine, where the transmission meets, and down towards to the starter motor area. The crank sensor is located in the area right above the starter motor. It may be necessary to remove the two starter motor mounting bolts, and move the starter motor slightly ahead to gain access to the crank sensor connector. The starter motor should not have to be removed to install the harness connectors. Tie strap the modules crank sensors harness away from the exhaust manifold. Step 5 Systems check of the computer throttle filter module Reconnect the negative battery cable to complete the installation. Functions and Operations of the Throttle Control Module With the module installed correctly and the harness exiting the unit from the 6 o’clock position you will see an LED displayed with the key on. The LED is located at the top left side of the front of the module. The LED will blink from a RED to GREEN with the key on only. The LED will become a steady GREEN after 60 to 90 seconds of engine operation. Note: If the LED continues to flash, recheck the crank position sensor connection Step 6 Reinstall the Plastic Upper Intake Cover. After making sure that all the connectors have been locked together correctly and keeping the wire harness away from the exhaust manifold area, reinstall the plastic upper intake cover. The installation is now complete.
