Cosplay to feature front and centre at HYPER JAPAN
Festival 2015
HYPER JAPAN, the UK’s biggest celebration of Japanese culture, cuisine and entertainment,
has announced that cosplay (the art of dressing up as a character from anime, gaming or film)
will once again feature prominently in this summer’s HYPER JAPAN Festival. In addition to
offering a huge, multifaceted space for the cosplay community to gather, take photographs
and admire each others’ outfits, there will be 3 special attractions for cosplayers to enjoy:
COSParade, Photo Booth and Cosplayer Tables.
COSParade will be the signature cosplay event of the festival, giving individual cosplayers the
opportunity to get up on stage and show off their costumes in front of an appreciative crowd.
Both cosplay novices and seasoned veterans can feel welcome onstage, since COSParade offers
an ideal environment of enthusiastic supporters without the stern gaze of a panel of judges.
Photo Booth aims to cater to one of the main tenets of cosplay: see and be seen. With high
quality photographs and selfies being a mainstay of the cosplay movement, it’s only natural that
we provide a dedicated place for cosplayer photos, complete with stage lighting and green
screen backdrops, all under the supervision of a professional photographer.
Cosplayer Tables will provide a rare and useful setting for novices to exchange ideas and gain
hints and tips directly from veteran cosplayers. There will be a dedicated area for seasoned
cosplayers to show the outfits and accessories they have made, and dispense advice on all the
various stages of outfit assembly; from choosing a suitable character and sourcing materials, to
the nitty-gritty of clothes design, sewing and adding the all-important finishing touches.

Tickets cost £13 for the Friday and Saturday sessions, and £16 for the Sunday session
Children aged 10 and under go free on Friday, aged 5 and under go free every day
