SARAI Knowledge Portal Architecture
consisting of functional blocks
The structure follows a layered service oriented architectural approach presented in Kaloxylos (2012). The basis of
the architecture is the use of generic enablers and also their adaptation to domain specific enablers for the specific
agricultural tasks. The separate areas of generic enablers can be combined to provide a complete and coherent tool for
agricultural systems.

Semantic Portal Content Management System
All systems developed for Project SARAI is a Smarter Web
Application that gives reactive, understandable and timely information.
The systems were developed using Meteor JS Stack. It is a reactive
javascript client-server stack that allows the developers the flexibility to
create a smart app in less time, and still have the content management
system that SARAI needs.

Couple web portal
efforts with improving on
existing traditional
communication media. The
web portal, which will
possibly be accessed by
the farmers’ sons,
daughters, or
grandchildren, can help
give the farmers usable
information for a longer
period of time.
Baseline study on the availability of technologies and
the willingness of farmers to access information from
the internet:
The case of Brgy. Palusapis, Muñoz, Nueva Ecija.

Tap the local government for designing a
tailor-made training series for the
farmers. This will help the farmers build a
resilient attitude towards climate change
– that they are empowered enough to act
on today’s pressing weather challenges.

15
Identify ways on how to strengthen
the internet connectivity of the
different areas. Farmers, and other
stakeholders, may all be willing to
subscribe to online agricultural
information,
but
with
poor
connectivity, the pool of data stored
in different database cannot be
easily accessed by the farmers.

16
Continue using SMS as a closer tool to
educate the farmers, and also as a tool to
gather questions and feedback from the
field. Not only can the SMS provide a venue
for a real-time and easier sending of
information, but it can also help the local
government see the smaller scenarios in the
field, and plot problem areas which need to
be addressed immediately.

17
Conclusion
Initiating and sustaining a collaboration
whether face-to-face, at machine-level or
online are challenging, however, it can
provide an effective solution for managing
dynamic virtual applications in resourcesharing infrastructures.
