08:30 am to 12:00 pm Joint Yardstick and World Parks Academy Workshop
Using Best Practices and Benchmarks with Yardstick: Yardstick Europe User Group
combined with Continuing Professional Development in the World Parks Academy
Participants: Yardstick Europe User Group, CIPP candidates and holders, Members interested in
benchmarking and/or certification. Local professionals and tertiary students. (Workshop in English)
This year we are blending the Yardstick Europe User Group into a professional development program
for those people looking to both find out more about benchmarking in the parks sector and those
looking to work toward professional accreditation. Continuing development is a critical component of
the park, recreation, and protected lands management profession. This session provides two related
educational sessions:
1. a review of continuing education best practices, the value of certification and continuing
education, and review of the World Parks Academy program.
2. A review of the 2014 benchmark outcomes, discussion around areas to be benchmarked in 2016
and the opportunity to see what some members have discovered from user surveys about their
users desires for parks. How do we know if we are doing a good job unless we measure and
report on our progress?
