Getting started
Welcome to ADVANCE
Many thanks for choosing ADVANCE. We
are one of the world’s leading paraglider
manufacturers and are based in Switzerland.
Since 1988 we have consistently followed
our own paths and concepts, both in development and production. We hope that your
EASINESS will bring you many rewarding
hours in the air.
The EASINESS is an extremely light and very
comfortable reversible harness. Without a
seat board, the one size light reversible harness will fit pilots of heights between 155 cm
and 190 cm, and is best suited to Hike & Fly
pilots, leisure flyers, travellers and vol bivouakers.
Getting started
This guide gives you a brief look at using
your EASINESS, but it does not replace the
official manual, where you will find detailed
instructions about setting up, use in flight,
upkeep and service. The manual can be
downloaded from www.advance.ch/
easiness.
Delivery and initial settings
Before delivery every ADVANCE product has
to be checked by the dealer that the package
is complete and that basic settings are correct.
The EASINESS harness package contains:
• Reversible harness
• 2 riser quicklinks
• 3 reserve connection straps (attached to the shoulder straps)
• ’Getting started EASINESS’ Booklet
Optional for the EASINESS are:
• an adjustable size front container with re-
serve handle and a reserve Y-connection
• LTF approved airbag protector
Adjusting the harness
The EASINESS is simple to adjust because,
to a great extent, it adapts itself to fit the pilot’s
body.
Info: Load the back pocket before you start adjusting, and fit the re-
serve before checking your final settings. This will give you some-
thing like a realistic flight position.
1. Original settings
All adjusters are completely open at deliv ery. To save weight the leg straps are not adjustable. Carabiner distance is variable.
ADVANCE recommanded that you fly with a carabiner distance of 40 to 42 cm.
2.Setting the upper body (recline) angle
Now you can adjust your upper body angle
using the back straps. The back straps are fitted relatively high at the sides; this
gives good back support and takes weight
off the shoulders.
After setting the back straps you can adjust the shoulder straps, so that they are comfortably relaxed or give light support, but do not put pressure on your shoulders.
3.Setting the distance between the leg rests
Finally you can set the distance between the two leg rests; when shortened this makes the EASINESS feel compact and more stable in flight.
4.Final check
Recheck that the shoulder straps give only
light support.
Rucksack with plenty of features
At 43 litres the Rucksack EASINESS is optimized for a PI and has plenty of space for a
light wing, light reserve and an instrument.

Optional LTF-certified airbag
An optional LTF-approved airbag protector
can be mounted on the EASINESS by a zip
fastener system. One side of the zip is fitted
on the underside of the EASINESS - the other
on the protector. The zip puller is secured by
a ball and loop (Chicken Loop System). The
protector is then held at the front by a velcro
strap through each centre loop of the leg strap
extensions 1 . Finally each protector side flap
is fastened to the square ring 2 at the top
of the leg rest side by strap and plastic buckle.
Info: A very small packed volume means that the protector is easily
carried in the EASINESS rucksack, and does not have to be taken off the harness.

Installing the reserve
Fitting a reserve must be done carefully and
correctly; your safety depends on it. The adjustable-size front container has room for
round reserves with volumes of approximately
3 to 6 litres. Step by step instructions are explained in the EASINESS manual. If in doubt
do not hesitate to contact a qualified person.

Make sure that your reserve volume is within the EASINESS front container limits.
A very rough volume approximation can be arrived at from the following formula:
reserve weight x 2.7 = volume in litres. But, depending on packing style and quality, a reserve of an acceptable volume using this formula may not release properly. A final judgment must always be made
by carrying out a compatibility test of the reserve and front container combination.

Connect the supplied reserve connection
and the reserve bridle using a Maillon Rapide of 2400 daN minimum safe load. Fix the connections in position on the Maillon using, for example, twisted rubber
O rings, so that the loop ends do not slip round the Maillon and side load it during a reserve opening.

tainer. There are step by step instructions in the manual.

Connecting the reserve to the harness:
The EASINESS has two ways of connect-
ing the reserve to the harness: ADVANCE recommend type a):
a)Reserve connection via side channel to the shoulder straps
• An inter-looped harness V-connec tion runs from the shoulder strap •
loops through the harness side channel of the reserve.
The first harness item to meet the reserve bridle is the single harness connection, to be attached to the bridles by Maillon or inter-looping. Shoulder strap loops and the three connection lines are inter-looped, and are already in place on delivery.
Info: When a reserve supports the shoulder straps the pilot’s body is automatically brought into an upright
position. This makes a parachute landing fall easier to do upon landing.

Reserve connection to the main cara-
biners
In this case you should remove the re-
serve connections already installed at the shoulder straps.

Hang the two reserve Y-connector
ends in the main carabiners before every flight, making sure they cannot
touch the carabiner fasteners.
Make sure that all three front con-
tainer Velcro loops are fastened on the chest strap.
Caution: Always hang the reserve connections in the carabiners first – then the paraglider risers. This is to ensure that the reserve connec-
tions don’t interfere with the carabi-
ner fasteners.
Info: When the reserve is connected
to the carabiners it can be more difficult to take up an upright attitude
for landing under the reserve. This will have to be done actively.

Compatibility test
Correct installation of a reserve in the container must always be checked by carrying out a test release.

Warranty and Service
Register your EASINESS online within 10 days
of purchase on www.advance.ch/garantie.
The ADVANCE warranty is valid for 3 years
to cover defects that are attributable to manufacturing faults. There are more details online.
Your EASINESS has to have a check every
24 months and should be regularly inspected.
If damage is found it should be immediately
repaired by an authorised service centre.
