Ikebana Demonstration & Workshop by Tamayo Hussey 1. Moribana Style Workshop When:10:30-13:30 Thursday 16th April 2015 2. Nageire Style Workshop When:10:30-13:30 Thursday 23rd April 2015 Location: Private house near Arnhem station* Cost: 45 Euro per person, per workshop, which includes all floral materials, tuition and refreshments The workshop will commence with an introduction to Ikebana followed by a demonstration in the "Moribana" or "Nageire" style. Under the direction and tuition of Tamayo, all the participants will learn how to build their own Ikebana creation. * The workshops are enlightening as well as calming. Leaning to create a thing of beauty that is momentary in nature releases endorphins. Ikebana pieces are delicate, so the aim is for the creator to reanimate the entire process again at home, thereby experiencing, once more, the serenity of the workshop. * Cash payment in advance is requested. Directions will be sent after your booking. * The workshop will be taught in English. Ikebana - Japanese flower arranging - is an art form involving nature, people and human creativity. When arranging your flowers in the spirit of Ikebana, your mind opens and your deepest senses emerge as you express yourself through the power of plants, marvelling at the beauty of the composition. As you create, you may become aware of your emotions - arousing memories past or a story long forgotten - and this you build into your momentary art piece. After the workshop is over, you can continue to enjoy Ikebana as you conceive of even more beautiful arrangements, eventually capturing your character and personality in your creations to suit your living space and make that space truly yours. Tamayo Hussey is an artist who teaches and holds Ikebana workshops at her Grand Designs house in the United Kingdom. Currently she is living in the Netherlands where she will continue to share her knowledge for the duration of her time here. Tamayo was born in Tokyo and her initial discipline was in Ikenobo, one of the oldest forms of Ikebana. Later, she took an interest in and studied the Ryusei style. Shortly before she left Japan, she had the good fortune to study under the artist Yoshio Karimai and his unique Hana-Jyuku school in Tokyo. In the near future Tamayo will run weekly classes in South Arnhem.
