Author / Issuer: Alan Moore – ILCU Foundation General Manager Document Title: Great Ethiopian Run 2015 Expression of Interest Form Date: 17/04/15 Importance: 1 For attention of: ☒ Honorary Secretary ☐ Money Laundering Reporting Officer ☒ Board ☒ Youth Development Officer ☒ Manager ☐ Training Liaison Officer ☒ Key Frontline Staff The ILCU Foundation is now accepting expression of interest forms to take part in the Great Ethiopian Run initiative nd which takes place on Sunday, 22 November 2015 in Addis Abba, Ethiopia. In an effort to engage further with credit unions and to provide them with an opportunity to visit our projects / credit unions on the ground, we have been given a number of places, as part of our partnership with Gorta -Self Help Africa in Ethiopia, to participate in the ‘Great Ethiopian Run’. More than 36,000 participants from across the globe are nd expected to run/walk/jog the popular 10km fun run (7,726 ft - above sea level), which takes place on Sunday, 22 November, 2015. Last year 4 Irish credit union representatives took part, including a credit union staff member, manager, director and chairperson. Needless to say this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, we would like to invite reasonably fit members of staff/ board of directors to participate. The main reason for this initiative is to provide an opportunity for Irish credit unions to gain a deep and robust understanding of the work we carry out and the effects it can have on credit unions in Ethiopia. The trip would include: nd Participation in the Great Ethiopian Run on Sunday, November 22 ; Visit to ILCUF/Self Help Africa projects in Ethiopia; And sight-seeing in Addis Ababa. *Full logistical details will be circulated in the coming months. The trip cost’s €2,000, which covers travel, hotels, breakfasts, project visits and your race entry. This can be raised by the individual, support can be provided, or through the credit union itself. We would ask your credit union to circulate this information amongst your colleagues. Should the Foundation receive more submissions of interest than places allocated, a random selection process will take place to ensure equality and fairness. Members of the ILCUF Staff will chaperone the group on route and in country. If you have any queries regarding this initiative, please feel free to contact James Gallagher at 01 614 6746 or email [email protected]. Last year’s participants said “Witnessing the work of the Foundation first hand makes you want to tell everyone about their great work. Seeing villages that have the Credit Union to thank for their development makes you very humble.” “A brilliant experience and helped me take stock of my own values- met some great people both within the group and on our visits. Restored my faith in humanity and made me realize how much the Credit Union movement can change people’s lives for the better.” Further information: http://www.ethiopianrun.org/ Great Ethiopian Run 2015 Expression of Interest Form Please complete the details below in block capitals and return by email to [email protected] Full Name: ______________________________________________________ Credit Union: ____________________________________________________ Your Role in the Credit Union: _____________________________________ Correspondence Address: (Home or Credit Union address) Email Address: Contact Phone Number (Mobile): ___________________________________________
