days are longer and nights are brighter

St Peter’s GAA, Dunboyne
March 2015
DAYS ARE LONGER AND
NIGHTS ARE BRIGHTER
A great season ahead for St. Peter’s on and off the pitch
N
OW that spring is here and the
new season is under way, St.
Peter’s GAA will be pushing
hard for silverware of all shapes and
sizes. And what better place to display
these prizes then in our own clubhouse.
Given the growing nature of Dunboyne
and the ever increasing enthusiasm for
GAA in the locality, major development
of these premises was required and
2007 saw the opening of the ‘New’
Clubhouse. The new clubhouse now
boasts several facilities available to all
members and the local community. One
of the new additions to the premises is
of course our clubhouse bar.
The heart of every club is it’s members
and having a home to return to, from
glories and disappointments is an
essential part of the journey. It’s a place
to air views and split hairs, regale stories
and invent legends, in good company
and comfortable surroundings. Our
clubhouse offers all of this and more.
The clubhouse bar is open on
Thursday and Friday evenings, all
weekend as well as bank holidays. With
two big screen available to view all
sporting events, it’s the place to be this
season.
And so with signs of a great year
ahead, St Peter’s GAA clubhouse bar
has plenty to offer.
Our first event is, St Patrick’s Eve
Celebration Night, on Monday 16th
March. Rory O’Connor brings you his
own brand of madness based on his
experiences in the world of GAA and
Joe Fortune will be entertaining the
troops with his own musical flair.

St. Peter’s Dunboyne
through to Leinster U16
Div 1 League Final.
St. Peter’s Dunboyne have
qualified for the final of
the Leinster U16 League.
Having come through
their group unbeaten, with
victories over Ballyroan
Abbey (Laois), Killoe Og
(Longford) and The Downs
(Westmeath), Dunboyne
we’re pitched against
local rivals Ratoath in the
semi-finals on Saturday last.
Despite fielding without
a number of key players
through injuries, St. Peter’s
came through on a scoreline
on Ratoath 0:04 St. Peters
Dunboyne 0:11.
This sets up a “mouthwatering” final against St.
Loman’s Mullingar, the only
other unbeaten side in the
competition on Sunday April
5th. Supporters are asked to
get behind the team to cheer
on the lads.
County Representation
Well done to a number of
our players on their selection
for county teams. Ronan
jones and David McEntee
will represent the club for
the Meath Minor team, while
Shane McEntee and Jason
Daly have been selected on
the county U21 squad.
Andy Markey continues to
participate with the Meath
Senior squad.
A particular mention to
Shane McEntee who has
been appointed Meath U21
Captain for the coming
campaign. Congrats Shane!

CHAMPS OFF TO A WINNING START
Senior Camogie - Div 1
St.Peter’s Dunboyne 4-12
Ratoath 0-1
Dunboyne Senior camogie team got their
Senior League campaign off to a winning start
with a comprehensive victory over Ratoath on
Sunday.
Dunboyne led from the start with scores
from Sinead Hackett, who gave a sterling
performance at centre forward scoring some
super points from play. While the back lines
were never under serious pressure, county stars
Fiona O’Neill and Maeve Clince ensured that
Dunboyne remained well ahead throughout the
match, breaking down most Ratoath plays.
It was a full team affair from Dunboyne with
an especially strong performance by the
midfield pairing of the Coyne sisters, Chloe
and Amy.
Despite the score line and the snowy conditions
Ratoath fought until the final whistle and
showed fine displays of skill and determination
throughout the match, especially from young
players like Amy Gaffney.
Dunboyne look forward to meeting Trim in the
next league match at the end of the month. It
