Saturday 9th May 2015 Thank you for entering the Black Country Triathletes Junior Duathlon. Below you will find all the details you need for the race. If you require any further information please email us at [email protected] or ring Karen Evans on 01902 892261 EVENT The Black Country Triathletes Junior Duathlon is organised by Black Country Triathletes and is sanctioned by Triathlon England. As such, it is governed by their rules and regulations for children’s events. VENUE Stourport Cycle Track Kingsway Stourport on Severn Postcode DY13 8BQ There is ample parking space at the centre. There are toilets, changing rooms and showers inside the centre. There is also a café on site for refreshments. REGISTRATION Registration will be located in the main building. Registration will open at 10.30am and remain open until 12:00pm All competitors must register on arrival Your start times will be displayed here. NUMBERS Once registered you will receive your race numbers which will need to be attached to the FRONT and BACK of your T-shirt / vest. Race Belts are permitted, please ensure your number is on your back for the bike section and front for the run section. You will also be issued with two sticky labels with your race number on, one must be displayed on your bike and one on your helmet. You will also be allocated your timing chip which must be worn on your left ankle. TE MEMBERSHIP TE Members need to show their licences, if you are not able to do so you will be required to purchase a day licence at an extra cost of £2. Non TE members will be issued with a day licence at registration (cost is included within the entry fee). WARM UP The bike course will be open for familiarisation at 11.00 and will close at 11.30 before the first wave. There will be an additional familiarisation for Tristar 3 and Youth after the Tristar 2 race has finished. RACE BRIEFING All competitors must attend the race brief. There will be a race brief for Tristarts, TS1 and TS2 at 11.30am. TS3 and Youth race brief will be at 1.30pm. START TIMES The following start times are approximate and may be changed, more accurate start times will be given at registration. Each age group will be called to a holding area. Once all competitors from the previous wave have completed the cycle phase they will be allowed to enter transition from the holding area to set up their kit. (Please do not walk across the running track). There will be an announcement as to when transition is open for each age group. Please note the Tristar start and Tristar 1 competitors will be allowed the assistance of ONE parent/adult in transition. Other age groups are not allowed to be accompanied as the event will be in progress, but there will be marshals on hand to assist. BIKE SECTION Once by your bike put on your helmet. Do not pick up your bike until you have securely fastened your helmet. Your helmet must be worn securely and fastened at all times during the cycle section. Pick up your bike and WALK with it to the exit point and then on to mount line Don’t mount your bike until you get to the mount line and then only mount when instructed. Please make sure your number is clearly displayed Each lap of the course is 1000 metres and we will have Marshals lap counting, however, it’s YOUR responsibility to make sure you do the correct number of laps, our marshals are there to guide you only. You can overtake on the OUTSIDE OF ANOTHER RIDER ONLY. Remember to check if it is safe to overtake first. RUN SECTION Once you have finished cycling, you must dismount your cycle at the dismount line and then walk with your bike into the transition area. Do not remove your helmet until you’ve put your bike down. Please don’t throw your bike or helmet down. Run out of the exit marked ‘Run out’ . Each lap is 400 metres, We will have Marshals lap counting. However, it’s YOUR responsibility to make sure you do the correct number of laps. Once you have crossed the finish line, have a well-earned drink and receive a well-deserved memento. Make sure you cool down before you rush off. BIKE COLLECTION Marshals will clear transition after each race. The bikes will be moved to a place where competitors may collect their bikes on presentation of their race number. Please do not re enter transition after your race. Presentations for Tristar 3 and Youth will take place after the Youth race has been completed. PHOTOGRAPHY In line TE guidelines for children’s races, anyone wishing t take photographs or video footage of the event with either a camera or mobile phone must register their details at the Registration desk before carrying out any such photography. You will be issued with a sticker which you must wear at all times RESULTS Results will be available on www.stuweb.co.uk as soon as possible after the race. GENERAL RULES Listen to the race officials and always do as they tell you. Only race officials are allowed to help you during the race. Your race number must be not be altered by competitors and must remain visible at all times. Preferably the number should be secured to the front of your top by safety pins at all 4 corners. You may wear a race belt, as long as your number is clearly visible. If there is anything that you do not understand then please ASK. Please ensure that both yourself and any adult accompanying you have read and are aware of the rules set out above EQUIPMENT LIST Cycle - Bike (in good working order with all loose parts removed e.g. lights, locks, pumps etc) Helmet (NO HELMET NO RIDE!!) Run - T-shirt/vest (to put your number on) Shoes, shorts, socks (if required) General - safety pins (for your numbers) Warm clothing to put on afterwards
