Coaching Pathway Coaching qualifications – full of numbers and letters and shiny certificates... but what does it actually mean? What does each qualification give you the skills to do? Below explains how each qualification links to the next, and what the skills you will gain by doing it. Level 1 This is your basic qualification which means you can assist other coaches in delivering sessions. You will need to be under supervision and it is a supporting role. Assist Level 2 Club Level Level 3 This is what we require for a standard club coach who coaches at a local level. It will give you the skills to prepare, deliver and review coaching sessions for mixed ability. This is a step up and we would expect our coaches in both the senior and junior National Leagues and within our talent pathway to have this qualification. National Level It is different from level 2 as it gives you the skills to plan, implement, analyse and revise whole annual coaching programmes. It looks at coaching as a whole and gives the skills to be more strategic in your coaching. We encourage level 3 coaches to get involved with our Regional Development Programmes which utilise these types of skills into the talent pathway. Level 4 International Level If you can’t get enough you can get yourself a level 4 qualification which means you can design, implement and evaluate the processes and outcomes of long term and high level coaching programmes. This is for national and international coaches.
