(i)
Conditions of Play
The Championship will be a 72 hole stroke play event, with 18 holes being played each
day.
(ii) A field of 120 competitors will be eligible to play in the Championship.
(iii) The field will play one round on each of the first two days, after which the leading 60
Professionals (and those who tie for 60th place) will go forward to the third and fourth
rounds.
(iv) In the event of a tie for first place there will be a ‘hole-by-hole’ play-off on holes to be
determined by the Tournament Director and published at the Championship. All players,
other than the Champion, involved in the play-off will share second place.
(v) Play shall be in accordance with the Rules of Golf as published by R&A Rules Limited,
European Senior Tour Conditions of Competition and Local Rules and the additional
Local Rules of Close House (Colt Course) as approved by the Tournament Director.
(vi) European Senior Tour General Member Regulations apply.
(vii) Players not qualified under any of the exempt categories (listed under section 4) will be
required to play an 18-hole qualifying round on Monday 8 June over the Colt Course.
In the event of a tie for the final qualifying spot, a hole-by-hole play-off will determine
the qualifiers. The play-off will cease once the final qualifying spot has been
determined. Alternate spots will be decided by card count-back over the last 9, 6, 3 & 1
holes and, if still tied, matchplay from the first hole on the scorecard. Any results
achieved in the play-off for the final qualifying spot will supersede the card count back.
Note: In the event of inclement weather, or any other relevant factor in the opinion of
the Tournament Director, making the playing of the Pre Qualifying Round impracticable,
the Tournament Director may amend the Conditions of Play in order to improve the
chances of completing the Pre Qualifying Round. Such an amendment may involve play
on Tuesday 9 June.
(viii) A Pro-Am competition will be held on Wednesday 10 June over the Colt Course. Any
exempt player requesting a release from the Wednesday Pro-Am should apply in writing
to the Head of Tournaments of the PGA or the Managing Director of the European
Senior Tour before entries close at midday on Thursday 14 May.
(ix) Player’s clubs must conform to the groove and punch mark specifications* as stipulated
in Decision 4-1/1 of the Rules of Golf including the qualifying round.
