Summer has arrived and so has the San
Antonio summer heat! Here are some tips to
stay cool and well during the summer
months:
Plan outdoor activities for cooler early morning hours.
Look for shaded areas to enjoy the outdoors, or
consider visiting places with air conditioning on hot
days.
Stay hydrated! Drink plenty of water and try to avoid
caffeine.
Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothes. Lighter
colors and cotton materials are best for warm weather.
Don’t forget sunscreen and a hat to protect yourself
from overexposure to the sun.
Signs of dehydration or heat exhaustion are less
pronounced in seniors due to aging, certain medications, and chronic conditions. Speak with your doctor
about how these circumstances could change your
body’s ability to manage heat.
Another great tip to beat the summer heat is to join us for
many of our activities that are planned for June!!!!
Have a Joyful June!

FOOD DRIVE
It’s that time again! We will be partnering up with
the San Antonio Food Bank to conduct a food drive
here at Independence Village. Let’s all join
together to help alleviate the problem of hunger in
San Antonio, with the goal of surpassing last year’s
donation total of 843 pounds of food! Please bring
your donations to the Clubhouse throughout the
month of June. On Tuesday, June 30th at 1:30pm,
all are welcome to join us for Kindness Klub in the
IV Game Room where we will be sorting the Food
Bank donations. Thank you in advance for your
help! Have a healthy and happy month!
