enjoy swimming but are not ready for
the commitment of a full time swim team.
Focusing on the continued development of our
progressive skills, it also begins preparing kids
to become responsible adults and helps them
to develop the skills they need to pursue a
job in the aquatics field (i.e. swim instructors,
Lifeguards, or Slide attendants.)
Meeting 2x a week, this class will get your
young swimmer ready and help them prepare
for summer employment at the YMCA which
can start as early as 14 years old.

Projects in our community.

THE PLACE FOR TEENS
The YMCA offers a variety of teen programs
and leadership activities.
YOUTH AND GOVERNMENT
This statewide youth educational program
involves students in 8th-12th grades. It
teaches the values of democracy by creating
citizen leaders from a cross section of state's
high school population, providing them with
the opportunity to experience government
first hand. Teens get to make the rules! The
teens will meet twice a month to learn about
the legal process and create their own bills
to be presented in Chambers. This program is
highlighted with a weekend at the State House
in January where they will have the chance
to present and debate their bills with other
Youth and Government Teens from across
Indiana. Payment is made by the school year,
covers the months of October-January and
includes the hotel cost for the two night stay
downtown.
For more information, call Amanda Moore at
317.940.9542.
FUNDRAISING opportunities are available!
SAFE SITTER®
(Ages 11-15yrs) Safe Sitter® is a nationally
recognized instructional program for teens.
The new design teaches accident prevention,
emergency response, child development,
behavior management and the business of
babysitting through games, activities and
role plays. Course includes workbook. Bring a
lunch.

HELP STUDENTS ACHIEVE MORE
Y-Achievers College Access & Success
Program-The YMCA plays a major role in
ensuring that students and families have
an opportunity to continue their education
beyond high school. The Y partners with
higher education service organizations to
build a pipeline of services that will assist
students to achieve college access and
success. Program activities include college
planning and preparation for academic and
financial success, homework assistance and
tutoring, college tours, help with researching
and completing scholarship applications, and
assistance with FAFSA completion at College
Goal Sunday.
In order to accomplish these goals, the Y
needs volunteer mentors to help guide
students through their educational years
and into careers where all persons may
become self-supporting and active community
members.
