INNIBOS Joburg-to-Maputo Art Safari Day 1: Tuesday, 30 June The incredible tour kicks off in Johannesburg at the Bannister Hotel, with a continental breakfast before boarding an air-conditioned minibus that heads straight to the Lowveld, via Arts on Main, the downtown hub for Johannesburg’s creative community. Your dedicated tour guide on the Art safari is Kobus Burger well-known for art lover, journalists and current Executive Producer: Drama at RSG. With the exception of the normal comfort stops, the tour’s first highlight and official stop is for lunch in beautiful Kaapsehoop, with its free-roaming wild horses - at a the Bohemian Groove Café, the vibey restaurant and art gallery owned by local artists Charl and Andrea Fourie. The next stop is Nelspruit, where the night will be spent enjoying the official opening of the INNIBOS visual arts exhibition 2015 and getting to meet the conceptual 2015 festival artist Willem Boshoff , as well as Tanisha Bhana, Zondi Skosana, Wendy Malan, Leigh Voigt and other artists exhibiting on the fringe. Day 2: Wednesday, 1 July After breakfast, numerous venues will be visited, each with dedicated exhibitions, including the Mbombela Art Gallery, Nelspruit Civic Centre and the Lowveld Botanical Gardens, where you will see Willem Boshoff’s Garden of Words 3. Then hop back on the bus to head off to White River Gallery and the Artists Press in Brondal. Stay overnight at the Graskop Hotel and enjoy an evening surrounded by contemporary art. Each of the hotel’s rooms feature the work of a contemporary South African artist and the hotel boasts its own art gallery. DAY 3: Thursday, 2 July After breakfast enjoy a tour of Graskop Hotel’s rooms, each featuring unique creations by famous local artists, followed by a visit to the Modern Art Project and Sunshine galleries, all sporting works that represent up-and-coming contemporary artists in South Africa today. Then it’s off to Maputo for the second leg of the tour, with the first stops at the Chissano Gallery, Sagrada Familia Church and St Cyprian Anglican Church, before checking-in at the historical Hotel Cardoso for the night. DAY 4: Friday, 3 July After breakfast and check out, enjoy both a walking and bus tour through Maputo’s neighborhoods, visiting various sites including the National Art Museum, Nucleo de Arte, Pancho Guede’s and other Portuguese Art Deco buildings. Then head off back to South Africa to spend another night in Nelspruit. DAY 5: Saturday, 4 July Wake up to a continental breakfast before joining patrons at La Villa Vita for a champagne brunch and classical music concert featuring various artists, including Grammy Award winner Wouter Kellerman, Rouel Beukes and Ockie Vermeulen. Spend the rest of the day enjoying INNIBOS festival’s comprehensive art, theatre and music program at leisure (entrance included in tour fee). DAY 6: Sunday, 5 July After breakfast, enjoy the bus trip back to Johannesburg, via beautiful Schoemanskloof, and be dropped back off at the Bannister Hotel.
