ABOUT BATTLE OF THE BRAINS
Daytrippers invites you to be a volunteer at the 21st annual black tie gala, Battle of
the Brains. Previous events have attracted many of Canada’s most prominent and
influential companies eager to be part of one of Toronto’s most entertaining,
interactive and engaging fundraising events.
For the second year running, the event will be hosted at Daniels Spectrum located
in the heart of a neighbourhood that has been a long-time recipient of our
support. Recently named “best new venue in Canada,” Daniels Spectrum is a
symbol for the revitalization of Regent Park.
With a cocktail reception and gourmet dinner, the truly distinguishing element of
this event is “The Game!”
•
Battle of the Brains pits corporate teams of ten against one another in an allout battle of knowledge, brain power, mental wit and quick thinking. Lead
changes are fast and furious as teams battle it out to answer multiple-choice
trivia questions in a variety of challenging categories and earn points based
on how quickly their answer is entered on their “Brain Box” keypad.
•
The “Wildcard Round” features great prizes and “Brain Cells” allow teams to
earn extra points to get a leg up on the competition.
•
After ten categories of five questions, only the brightest, brainiest team will
emerge victorious and capture the coveted Battle Cup along with an entire
year of bragging rights!
BATTLE OF THE BRAINS AFTER-PARTY
The Battle of the Brains AfterParty will be returning for the
second year with a guest list
that includes senior executives
from some of Canada’s top
corporations, this is a great
networking opportunity and a
social gathering not to be
missed!

performances, photo booth,
beer tasting, door prizes, +

ABOUT DAYTRIPPERS CHILDREN’S CHARITY
Daytrippers Children Charity is a non-profit organization formed in Toronto by a group of
young professionals seeking to give back to the community. We believe that every
student should have the opportunity to visit unique places of learning: from museums to
art galleries to conservation areas and beyond. Children deserve the right to learn about
the world outside their classroom.
Unfortunately many school boards suffer from lack of funding or are understaffed for
school trips. Through its fund-raising efforts, Daytrippers enables school groups in lowerincome and far-reaching areas to participate in school trips to recognized educational
and cultural institutions. In just 14 years, Daytrippers Children’s Charity has raised more than
$1.4 million and sent more than 140,000 students on unique educational trips. Staffed
entirely by volunteers, Daytrippers has positively impacted students in school boards across
Ontario, British Columbia, Nova Scotia, Alberta, and Prince Edward Island
This exciting trivia challenge event brings together professionals from some of Toronto’s
biggest firms. By contributing volunteer support to this event, you will lead as an example
for other industry members and, ultimately, make a difference to thousands of school
children across Canada.

Preparation: The playing field will consist of tables of up to ten (10) players, making up
one team. A Brain Master will be at each table to advise and assist the team.
The Play: Teams will be asked a series of questions in different categories. After each
question, a time limit will be provided to record the answer.
Response: Each team will appoint a captain who will be responsible for choosing and
inputting the answers on the “Brain Box” keypad
Brain Masters: Each table will be assigned a volunteer Brain Master. The Brain Master’s
role is to ensure that the Team Captain and team members understand the rules, to
assist with management of and playing of Brain Cells and Brain Trust Forms. The Brain
Master is not a member of the team and cannot participate in answering the
questions. The Brain Masters will have no previous access to the questions or the
answers.
Brain Trust: The Brain Trust is composed of three Brain Trustees who are there to resolve
any disputes or queries related to questions in the game. Their decision in all cases will
be final and may not be questioned by anyone involved in the playing of the game.
End of Game: At the end of the competition, the team with the highest total number
of points is declared the winner and will be presented with the Battle Cup. In the case
of a tie, the Team Captains from the teams that are tied will select another player from
their own team as an assistant and the teams will battle in a 5 question round on
stage.
Playoff Rounds: In the case of a tie, the team captains of the teams that have tied will
come to the stage with their “Brain Boxes”. They will be asked three tie breaking
questions and will answer without the assistance of their team. The team whose
