Level 1 SITE Basic inspections are carried out based on the viewing of readily accessible components of the wood burning system(s) and the related venting system(s) – chimney and flue pipes. It does not involve the use of any invasive inspection techniques (such as the removal of building materials). If it is determined that further invasive inspection is necessary, the client must employ the services of a WETT Certified Comprehensive Inspector to carry out such an inspection and possible repair. The inspection report uses WETT recommended forms to indicate whether items are code compliant or not, or if the component was not able to be inspected. All non-compliant ratings should be remedied in order to bring the system into code compliance. Code compliance does not guarantee performance or functionality of the appliance. The safe operation of the wood burning appliance(s) is the sole responsibility of the client. The inspector assumes no responsibility for how the appliance is used. Properly dried fuel and adherence to the manufacturer’s instructions are imperative to the safe, efficient operation of the appliance(s).
